But Shane suddenly decided to hold an art exhibition at Silvermoon Pack, and he even chose the exact same day.

I couldn’t help asking, “Shane, when did you arrive? This can’t be a coincidence, can it?”

Shane smiled. “I arrived several days ago. I’ve been wandering around nearby. I didn’t want to hear your noisy chatter so soon after arriving.”

“What? You arrived and didn’t come see me right away? That’s outrageous!”

“Yeah. I didn’t come. Go ahead and cry about it,” Shane said with a grin as he clapped his hands lightly. But when he saw me staring at him unhappily, he sighed helplessly. “It’s because you never tell us anything that’s happening to you. So I had to look into things myself and see how you’ve actually been living. Even if you didn’t want us interfering, at the very least I had to know whether you were doing okay.”

His words made my chest tighten.

Back when my family suffered their tragedy, they also said they wanted to come help me. But I refused them.

He said Samuel’s name very casually. “He’s a student of Ms. Livingston, but he only goes there for one month of concentrated training each year and rarely appears there outside that time. So you’ve probably never met him before.”

Soon afterward, Pearl ran over as well and excitedly hugged Shane.

She went with me to Moonlight Academy back then. Even though she was called my maid in name, no one had ever treated her like a servant.

Everyone, including me, always treated her like my younger sister.

When Shane saw her, he nodded. “Pearl has grown taller too. And prettier.”

Pearl immediately smiled even more brightly, her face turning red with embarrassment.

Shane’s POV:

I watched Pearl and Laila exchange excited looks, Pearl’s face flushed red.

The sight reminded me of how they had been at Moonlight Academy. They had been confident and radiant, like the blazing sun of summer.

But now… I looked at Laila again.

She still acted playful and affectionate sometimes, just like before. But there was a quiet calmness in her eyes that hadn’t been there before.

Back when we were at Moonlight Academy, even the slightest grievance would make her complain loudly so the whole academy would know about it. She would run everywhere looking for someone to support her.
