The Silvermoon Pack itself was calm. No one seemed to be openly gossiping about Laila running out on the wedding. But on the way back, she’d heard more than enough whispers from others. It was always the same. She’d humiliated Samuel by fleeing the ceremony. She still couldn’t let go of Holt. She was still throwing herself at him, and so on.

But she’d also heard what Samuel had said at that oneman mating ceremony. He had stood firmly on her side.

She’d be lying if she said it hadn’t moved her, but Laila knew she couldn’t let herself be shaken. Falling for a man who already held someone else as the love of his life was dangerous.

As for Damian, Pearl had gone to ask around as soon as they returned. He was in the Frostwind Pack now. And he hadn’t gone to see King Vaughn first.

Pearl looked puzzled. Why would he do that? Isn’t he afraid His Majesty will be angry?

Laila let out a cold laugh. He’s doing it on purpose.

Pearl’s eyes widened. Huh?

Patiently, Laila explained, By going to Frostwind Pack first, he’s making a show of it for His Majesty. It’s the same as telling him that in the Rydar Kingdom now, everyone knows Prince Vance, but no one cares about King Vaughn anymore. Even someone with Damian’s status, after arriving near the Royal Court, goes to pay a visit to Samuel first.

As she spoke, Laila’s fists were already clenching. She wanted nothing more than to storm into the Frostwind Pack and beat Damian senseless,

With that thought, she didn’t even bother changing clothes. She shifted into wolf form and shot toward the Frostwind Pack.

Pearl couldn’t keep up at all. When Laila ran at full speed, no one in the Silvermoon Pack could match her. Except Viola.

By the time they reached Samuel’s den, even the guards looked colder than before.

Ms. Conlay. The greeting was curt and icy,

Laila didn’t take offense. She had run from the wedding. The fact that they weren’t cursing her out on sight was already more courtesy than she could expect.

To the wolves of the Frostwind Pack, Samuel was practically sacred. No one could tolerate the slightest insult to him. And she had run from the ceremony. In their eyes, she’d ground Samuel’s dignity straight into the mud.

Laila forced a faint smile. I’m sorry about what happened before. But I need to see Prince Vance right now. I also heard Damian of Bloodmoon Pack is here. Is he still inside?

The guard answered reluctantly, He is. Please go in, Ms. Conlay.

He stepped aside.

Thank you.

After thanking him, Laila went in with Viola.

Viola lifted a brow. Not bad. You ran out on your own wedding, and they’re still treating you this well? Looks like Prince Vance really went out of his way for you.

Laila said nothing.

Behind them came a cold snort from the guard.

As they made their way in, the servants in the den all avoided Laila from a distance. Those who couldn’t avoid her greeted her unwillingly. Samuel had probably given some kind of order beforehand, otherwise they never would’ve held their tongues in front of her.

Even so, the anger and displeasure in their eyes were impossible to miss. They clearly had strong opinions about her fleeing the wedding.

Laila let out a silent sigh, but she didn’t regret it. Even if she were given the chance to do it over again, she would still make the same choice.

As they approached the reception hall, voices floated out from inside.

Your Highness, you truly are blessed to have Prince Vance by your side. With him caring for you and protecting you, Moon Goddess above, how many women in this kingdom could ever be as fortunate as you?

Delilah, you do know how to talk. I like you very much.Morgana was smiling so widely she could hardly close her mouth. Praise was her favorite thing in the world.

Princess Morgana, every word I say is sincere.

Delilah’s voice was steady and earnest. If someone only heard her voice, they really might think she meant every word.

Laila couldn’t help letting out a cold laugh.

A few steps later, she entered and saw the scene clearly. On the left sat a middleaged man in a deep teal velvet robe. He was rather handsome and gave off the impression of being simple and somewhat reserved.

Naturally, Delilah sat beside him. She wore a dark winered velvet gown. She looked to be around thirty, wellkept, with a full fair face and thick dark brown hair pinned high,

On the right sat a young man who looked strikingly like Damian. He was slimmer, sat with perfect posture, and appeared very well- bred. Next to him was a boy of 16, dressed in brighter clothes, with a more arrogant expression.

The two girls were wearing matching lakeblue wool dresses. Since the fireplace was lit, they’d both taken off their cloaks.
