Chapter 322 The Truth Behind Her Change

Ruby had argued fiercely with Mr. Whitmore and then left alone to search for her daughter. For a full month, she never returned. Some even claimed Ruby had been torn apart by rogues.
But on the very last day of that month, she came back, covered in wounds and barely alive, dragging little Lillian by the hand.
The moment she reached home, she collapsed.
The wolf healers examined her and discovered she had multiple bone fractures in her leg, along with traces of wolfsbane toxin lingering in her body.
No one knew how a beta like her had managed to snatch Lillian back from a pack of rogues. Yet such a brave mother… How had she become the woman she was today?
Laila could not understand it.
But there had to be a reason behind Ruby’s change. Laila frowned slightly. Perhaps Lillian knew something…
While she was lost in thought, she caught sight of Viola returning from outside through the window. She was covered in mud, looking rather displeased.
Laila called out, “What happened? Did you fight someone?”
Viola did not want to admit she had been thrown into a mud pit without even getting a chance to fight. It was too embarrassing.
So she shook her head quickly. “No. I slipped.”
Laila raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
Viola avoided her gaze and quickly changed the subject. “By the way, someone moved into the house on the left. I don’t know who it is, but it probably isn’t your Prince Vance.”
Laila paused, then immediately denied it. “My Prince Vance‘? No. He’s not mine.”
Viola looked at her. “Aren’t you two supposed to form a mate bond? Even though you ran once, didn’t he say he’d wait for you? Or did he change his mind?”

By the end, a hint of killing intent even flickered in her eyes.
Laila could only laugh helplessly. “No…”
Viola continued, “So you don’t want to marry him anymore?”
Laila said helplessly, “…No.”

Viola blinked. “Then isn’t it simple? He wants to marry you, and you want to marry him. You’re going to be mates sooner or later. I’m not wrong.”
Laila gave up arguing. To be honest, even she herself was no longer sure what she wanted.
“Go wash up. You’re filthy,” she said.
“Alright.” Viola grinned and left.
Laila watched her back, then let out a soft sigh and glanced toward the neighboring house.
So it wasn’t Samuel who bought it…
She did not dwell on it too long. Curiosity was never something she had in abundance.
What she did not know was… the person next door had come specifically for her.
In the Frostfang Pack…
Estelle had also heard about what happened in the Thunder Pack, but she merely sneered coldly and said nothing.
She and Jenna were currently studying a tracking disc.
Yet after an entire day, the pointer on it had not moved even once.
It had already been more than three days since Freya swallowed the tracking device.
“Mom… did that witch lie to us? This thing doesn’t work at all. We can’t find Freya anymore.”
Estelle frowned deeply, saying nothing.
She tapped the tracking disc with her finger. Still, no reaction.
Her eyes gradually turned cold.
