Her oldest son was average in strength, and her youngest daughter was still too young to awaken her wolf spirit. That was why Holt became the Alpha of the pack.
If Holt had died in battle, there would have been no one able to take his place.
“Whoa, does that mean Ms. Conlay was actually after the Ironclaw Pack’s land?”
“She wanted to take over the Ironclaw Pack?”
Hearing the crowd react exactly the way she wanted, Elara smiled faintly.
Viola bared her teeth in anger. “You old witch! What nonsense are you talking about?!”
“That dump of an Ironclaw Pack land? It’s poor as hell! What would Laila even want from it?!
“Laila only married into your pack for one year, and she already poured three or four hundred thousand dollars into it herself! That broken land can barely sustain itself. Who would want to steal it?!
“And in terms of size, the Ironclaw Pack isn’t even half as big as the Silvermoon Pack!”
“But you-” She suddenly pointed at Elara. “You’re the one who wanted to steal Laila’s money and take over her territory! When the mate bond was broken, you chose to throw her out just so you could keep her property for yourselves! You even had Holt ask to borrow Silvermoon Pack land from Laila! If Laila had really been an omega wolf, your family would’ve destroyed her by now!”
The crowd froze. Only then did they realize how awful Elara’s actions had been.
Holt was the one who cheated, yet not only did his family feel no guilt, they even tried to take Laila’s money and land.
And now they were twisting the story around and accusing Laila of plotting against the Ironclaw Pack.
For a moment, the guests looked at Elara with open disgust.
Elara’s face turned ugly. The next second, she looked at Laila with hurt and disappointment. “Laila, do you think that too? I always treated you like my own daughter. Everything I did back then was to protect you.
“At the time. I believed you were just an omega. I was afraid rogues would bully you or rob you, so I offered to hold your property for you temporarily.
“Believe me or not, that truly was what I was thinking back then. I’m just so heartbroken that you misunderstood me like this…”
Fake tears slid down her face.

Chapter 330 Twist the Truth
The way she acted left the crowd confused again.

What Elara said sounded believable, too. Maybe she and Laila had simply misunderstood each other?
During the silence, Laila suddenly asked a completely unrelated question.
“Victoria, do you like Cottontail?”
Victoria froze for a second, then answered coldly, “Whether I do or not is none of your concern.”
Even though she didn’t get a real answer, Laila didn’t get upset.
She simply smiled and said nothing else.
Elara also felt confused by the question, but with so many people watching, she said nothing. She only held her chest and sighed. “I’m too upset. Victoria, let’s go home.”
“Okay.”
Victoria nodded and quickly helped the “heartbroken” Elara leave.
Watching their backs, Laila snorted. It had only been a few days, but Elara’s acting skills had improved again.
Viola spat angrily. “Ugh, what a bad day. Laila, let’s get out of here, too.”
But Laila shook her head. “There’s no need. I’m not going to let people like them ruin my mood. Come on, let’s keep looking at jewelry. I also want to buy something for Lillian”
Viola carefully studied Laila’s eyes. After making sure she truly wasn’t angry, she finally nodded and followed her to the third floor.
After picking out several pieces of jewelry and spending 300,000, Viola finally stopped, fully satisfied.
