As the store manager, Nolan usually greeted customers with a smile. But he simply couldn’t stand Elara, so he didn’t bother being polite to her.
Elara could clearly feel his attitude, and her face darkened at once.
But more than that, what really made her angry was how generous Laila was with herself. She could casually spend 200,000 on jewelry.
Back when they were in the Ironclaw Pack, Laila had never been this generous.
After ending her mate bond with Holt, Laila even demanded the hundreds of thousands she spent on Elara’s medicine back!
Damn it. Laila was only stingy with me!
The more Elara thought about it, the angrier she became. She secretly made up her mind that she would never pay Laila back.
Still, she had her pride to protect, especially since other people nearby had heard Nolan’s words and were now looking at them.
Keeping a stiff face, she said, “Of course we can afford it.”
Nolan glanced at her with doubt. “Really? I heard the Ironclaw Pack has money problems lately. Aren’t parents being asked to help pay for the school training equipment?“io
Elara’s face darkened. “Those are just rumors.”
“Oh!” Nolan said as if he suddenly understood. With a smile, he brought over a box and opened it. “This necklace came from the Bloodmoon Cavern. It’s made from moon–blessed obsidian. The original price was 300,000, but it’s on sale for only 200,000 now. Honestly, it suits you perfectly. What do you think?”
Elara had been ready to find an excuse not to buy it. But the moment she looked down, she was drawn in.
The necklace rested quietly on the velvet cloth. Every piece of obsidian looked like frozen night, covered with a faint silver–blue glow, as if someone had trapped the reflection of a full moon inside the stones.
For some reason, it reminded her of her late mate.
When he looked at her, his eyes carried that same kind of light.
Her eyes slowly became wet.
“I’ll take this necklace,” Elara said. Then, under Victoria’s shocked stare, she ordered, “Go pay for it.”
Victoria looked at her in disbelief. “Me?”

“Yes, you. Hurry up,” Elara said.

As she spoke, she had already picked up the necklace and eagerly put it around her neck. Looking at herself in the mirror, she felt like she had become younger again.
But Victoria didn’t move.
She didn’t want to pay. Two hundred thousand for one necklace was far too expensive.
She tried to persuade her softly. “Elara, this is too expensive…”
Elara frowned. “I know you have money. Go pay for it. Don’t embarrass me.”
She lowered her voice and glanced at Nolan, who was still watching them nearby.
Victoria still didn’t move.
