Back then, after Terrence died in battle, Victoria was completely heartbroken. She even told Lorena that she would never marry again. Because of that, Lorena gave her all of Terrence’s death benefits, a total of 500,000.
She still had some money of her own, but most of it was tied up in investments. Right now, the only money she could freely use was the death benefits.
Earlier, she had already spent 100,000 dollars for Holt.
And now, she had spent another 200,000 on a necklace.
The more she thought about it, the worse she felt about it. Tears kept falling from her eyes.
At the same time, she could hear people whispering around her.
“She’s crying? Don’t tell me she used all her money just to buy that necklace.”
“She deserves it. If you can’t afford it, don’t try to copy Laila and shop here. She wants to look rich without spending money. How does that even work?”
“She’s the Ironclaw Pack’s Luna, and she’s crying over 200,000? At this rate, the Ironclaw Pack is doomed.”
Victoria wanted to scream, What do any of you know? I’m crying because this money was Terrence’s death benefit!
But she couldn’t say it out loud. If she did, people would judge her even harder.
Besides, after what she had done before, she felt guilty toward Terrence.
Not wanting to hear any more gossip, Victoria quickly wiped away her tears and got into the car.
When Elara saw the tear marks on her face, she looked annoyed. “What’s there to cry about? It’s only 200,000. Once Holt earns military rewards in the future, he’ll pay you back.”
Victoria clenched her hands tightly. Earn military rewards?
Now that the war was over, how was Holt supposed to earn military rewards?
And even if he paid the money back someday, it still wouldn’t be Terrence’s death benefits anymore.
The thought made Victoria even more upset. Tears kept running down her face.
Elara rolled her eyes from the side. So dramatic.
After they returned to the Ironclaw Pack, Elara got out of the car by herself. She admired the necklace for a while, then went to find Holt. “Holt, I ran into Laila today. She clearly isn’t short on money, so stop rushing to pay her back.”

Holt frowned when he noticed the new necklace on his mother. “That doesn’t feel right, Mom. I promised her I would repay the money.”
Elara snapped, “Pay her back, my ass. That little bit of money means nothing to her. But if you give it back now, our pack won’t even be able to keep running.”
Holt insisted. “But I still need her help…
“Oh, come on, Holt. Do you really think she would still help us?” Elara laughed coldly. “No way. Even if we were dying, she wouldn’t help. She’s just a cold–hearted bitch.”
