Chapter 347 Last of His Pride
Third–person POV:
Finneas was startled by Blake’s words. “Marshal Langley, Cottontail has given so much. If he ends up being abandoned by his own kingdom, people will tear you apart for it once they find out.”
Blake sneered. “I’m not the one making the decision. If they want to blame someone, they can blame Prince Vance. If he hadn’t disappeared, I could still discuss it with him, or work with him to pressure Victor into changing
the terms.”
“Marshal Langley…”
“Enough. This matter is settled.”
Finneas wanted to try to persuade him further, but Blake interrupted him.
He had made up his mind.
As for Cottontail, Blake did not think the man could have done anything that important.
He’s just a spy with an unknown fate. If he died, so be it. No one would truly care.
Meanwhile, at Ironclaw Pack, Holt had not been home in days. He had been out trying to borrow money.
But after trying for so long, he still had not managed to borrow even 10,000 dollars. Those so–called friends of his all claimed they had no money, and some had even tossed him a hundred dollars just to make him leave.
Deep down, he knew why. They believed Holt had gotten on King Vaughn’s bad side and had no future left, so they no longer wanted to be friends with him.
That wasn’t what bothered him. After all, that was just human nature.\

What truly bothered him was that Victoria had taken Terrence’s death benefit and used the money to buy his mother a necklace.
Even worse, his mother had broken the necklace, so he could not even return it.
Even so, he refused to use Terrence’s death benefit. It was too insulting.
He had to replace the money Victoria had used.
The problem was that he didn’t know where he was going to get it.
Holt sat by the side of the road for a long time, but the only person he could think of was Laila.

But he had no right to ask her for money again. He still owed her 450,000 dollars.

Holt let out a heavy sigh He had thought that after breaking his mate bond with Laila and marking Maris, he would lead Ironclaw Pack toward a brighter future. But now, it seemed his life had only gotten worse.
He sat there for another half hour. By then, was nine at night.
Finally, Holt stood and slowly walked toward Bellgar
The store had not closed yet, though there were barely any customers left. He was the last customer of the day.
The store manager, Nolan, greeted him. After hearing that he had come to ask for a refund of the money Victoria had paid, Nolan still kept a polite smile on his face.
“Then, Alpha Holt, what would you like to offer in exchange?” Nolan asked.
“My credit,” Holt answered. “Will that do?”
He handed over an IOU. “This is an IOU for 200,000 dollars. I’ll pay you back as soon as I can.“.
Nolan glanced at the IOU. It had Holt’s personal signature on it, along with Ironclaw Pack’s seal.
After thinking it over, he accepted it. “All right. I hope you keep your word.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll pay it back as soon as possible,” Holt said.
His face flushed. It was humiliating. As the Alpha of Ironclaw Pack, he could not even come up with 200,000 dollars.
Unable to help himself, he asked, “Can you keep this between us? Please don’t tell anyone.”
Nolan smiled and nodded. “Of course. I’ll keep it confidential.”
He quickly finished the process and said, “The money has been refunded. You can rest easy now.”
“Thank you,” Holt thanked him sincerely, then turned and left at once.
Behind him, Nolan called out, “We hope to see you again.”
Holt looked back at Bellgari’s gold sign, thinking that he would never step inside Bellgari again. The last bit of pride he had left had been lost here.
On the way home, Victoria contacted him through their mind link and asked what he had done and why the money had been returned.
He only said he had repaid it, then cut off the link.
The fact that Victoria had used Terrence’s death benefit filled him with shame.
