Chapter 375 Hanging

Chapter 375 Hanging

Thirdperson POV:

It was a true lifeordeath moment.

Just as Samuel lost his balance, Greer and Woodrow leaped out at the same time.

Each of them grabbed one of Samuel’s wrists.

With their other hands, they clung desperately to their own little trees, their knuckles bulging sharply from the strain.

But there was a problem. The distance between the two of them was too wide.

In this position, they could barely keep Samuel from plunging down, but there was no way they could pull him up.

Worse, those two little trees, which already had shallow roots, were carrying the weight of four grown werewolves.

The roots wedged inside the cracks began to creak under the strain, like something was snapping apart little by little.

Then suddenly, a sharp shout came from above.

Terrence quickly unbuckled the hook rope from his waist and flicked it downward. The length was perfect. The iron hook dangled less than two feet from Samuel’s right hand.

Woodrow and Samuel locked eyes.

No words were needed. It was that silent understanding unique to a wolf pack. One look and a barely noticeable nod.

Woodrow let go.

The moment Woodrow let go, Samuel shot out his right hand. His fingers clamped onto the rope like iron claws. Then, Greer let go. Samuel’s left hand immediately wrapped tightly around the lifeline.

Both arms were twisted tightly around the rope, leaving his entire body suspended in midair.

Now, the real issue was how to pull them up.

Up at the top, Terrence had thrown the hook end down. It was a desperate move. Without the heavy iron hook, the rope would be too light, whipping around in the wind and making it

impossible to get it to Samuel’s hand. But using the hook meant they could no longer wrap this end of the rope around a tree trunk for leverage.

Without an anchor point, they could only rely on brute strength.

But the few uninjured people left on top of the cliff were already at their limit. They gritted their teeth so hard their jaws looked locked in stone. Blood seeped from their gums and mixed with saliva as it ran down. Even with everything they had, they managed to haul them upward by less than ten feet.

Luke had already made it to the top safely. But Woodrow and Greer didn’t dare leave their positions. Like guard wolves at the edge of the cliff, they stared at the rope, ready to dive forward again if it slipped loose.

They were stuck.

The people above had no strength left to pull.

The people below were hanging in midair with nowhere to plant their feet.

And William was still unconscious, his head hanging limply backward. In his condition, that position only made his injuries worse.

Terrence’s eyes reddened with panic. He looked around for vines. If he could find just one thick enough to splice onto the rope, they could wrap it around a tree trunk for leverage. But after searching frantically, all he found were thin vines that could snap with a tug. Useless.

His back was injured, but he couldn’t think about that now.

He grabbed tightly onto Tyler’s waist and desperately threw his body backward, using his entire body to fight against the downward pull on the rope.

But they couldn’t hold on like this for long.

Nobody could hold on much longer.

They had to get them up right now.

Otherwise, either they would run out of strength and watch the rope slip through their hands, or those two small trees below would snap at the roots.

Right at that critical second

A group of figures stepped out from the trees at the edge of the forest above the cliff.

Through the thick weeds and low bushes, they could vaguely make out people dressed in black
