Samuel pushed himself up with effort and glanced down the cliff. Victor stood below, looking up as he roared in fury. Enraged, he paced wildly at the bottom of the rocky slope.
Samuel slowly lifted a hand. “We need to leave now.”
Let them try to climb up. At this point, only a few would make it anyway. The roots of those small trees were almost torn out already.
“Samuel!” Victor’s furious shout echbed from below. The pressure belonged to Alpha, carried are the way up the mountain. Even from this distance, it still felt like an invisible hand pressing against the back of their necks. “You Rydar people are nothing but scheming cowards! Instead of negotiating, you pull dirty tricks like this?!”
Samuel stopped for a moment and tilted his head slightly. His voice was calm, but loud enough for everyone below to hear. “When your army invaded Vagen, you didn’t bother negotiating with us too.”
He straightened up and waved a hand casually, like saying goodbye to an enemy not worth seeing again,
“Victor… this is farewell forever.”
Then he turned and walked away.
A few moments later, the people below could no longer see them.
Samuel’s shoulders instantly sagged. The final thread holding him together had finally snapped.
He was beyond exhausted. His arms hung uselessly at his sides/heavy as stone. He didn’t even have the energy to swing them while walking.
Callum carried William on his back.
Finneas refused to let anyone else carry Terrence. The wound on Terrence’s back had probably split open while pulling the rope earlier. Before the rescue team arrived, he had truly fought with everything he had.
They climbed mountains. Crossed down slopes. Split into groups and moved across the open grasslands.
The strong wind sweeping through the plains cooled some of the heat trapped deep in their bodies. It also gave these worn-out men just enough strength to keep going.
After crossing the grasslands, they had to climb another mountain.
They heard cheering.
Countless voices crashed together like a giant wave, rolling over from the other side of the mountain.
A crowd burst out from the forest and rushed toward them, surrounding them all at once.
The Cottontail scout team laughed and cried at the same time. Everything in front of them felt like a dream. It was too unreal. Even the cheers ringing in their ears felt distant somehow, but the voices were clearly right beside them.

Chapter 377 Hold On William
They had finally returned to Simonne Town.
The moment they entered the town, tears poured down nonstop.
All eight men-except for the barely conscious William-collapsed onto the ground.

They pressed themselves against the dirt of Simone Town and cried silently. Their shoulders shook hard. Their faces stayed buried in the earth because they no longer had the strength to cry out loud.
This was the homeland they had dreamed about for so long. They were home. Finally home. And Vagen was theirs again, too.
What did that mean to them?
It meant that even if they died, even if their bodies were left without graves, everything had been worth it. Every sacrifice.
The second Blake heard Samuel had succeeded and brought back eight survivors, he rushed over immediately.
Samuel sat slumped in a chair, looking completely drained. When he saw Blake, the first words out of his mouth were rough and hoarse, like stone scraping against sandpaper. “Get the best medic here.”
Blake answered almost instantly, clearly excited. “They’ll be here any minute.”
He stood before the eight men. He did not know any of them personally. Still, he walked over and patted each one on the shoulder, repeating the same words over and over. “Well done. All of you.”
These men were Kain’s soldiers. They followed Kain. None of them knew Blake. And they were too exhausted to speak. Once they sat down, even trying to stand again made their legs tremble violently.
“No need to stand.” Blake smiled warmly. “Stay seated. I’m proud of every one of you.”
After that, he told Callum to take care of them and hurried away to write a letter. The message had to be sent back to the Royal Court immediately. He wanted to report to King Vaughn that under his command, Prince Vance had been rescued successfully and every hostage had been brought back alive.
Nobody cared what Blake wrote in that letter.
