Deep down, Sara had never truly believed William was dead. She had never seen his body. It had been years since she had heard from him. Their mate bond had completely disappeared, but she still held onto that tiny bit of hope inside her heart. She just never dared to say it out loud. Whenever she did, people either comforted her with pity or answered with a helpless sigh.
So she kept the belief to herself. Even if it turned out to be nothing but self-deception, she still wanted to hold onto it. Otherwise, how was she supposed to keep living?
She rushed into the hall and saw Laila standing there. She also noticed everyone staring at her.
Their eyes were filled with tears. Her heart sank. This was worse than she though
Darell had already packed his things. The moment he saw her, he said, “You’re here. Hurry. We leave right now.”
Darell’s mate stepped forward and hugged Sara tightly, tears streaming down her face. “Be careful on the road,” she cried. “Bring William home.”

Sara’s lips trembled. “H-He’s not dead, right?”
Laila walked over and took her hand gently. “We’ll talk on the way.”
“O-Okay!” Tears kept falling, but her steps never slowed. Somehow, Sara managed to keep up with Laila’s fast pace.
Late that night, Viola knocked on Rowan’s door.
Rowan had already gone to bed. She always believed in sleeping early and waking early. She often said that every extra hour of lost sleep added three new wrinkles to her face.
By the time Viola arrived, Rowan had already been asleep for over an hour.
Even miracle doctors got cranky when woken up. Rowan glared at Viola. “This better be important. I’m not making house calls.”
Viola gestured politely and spoke at lightning speed. “Sorry for disturbing you, but Prince Vance sent an urgent message. Laila asks that you go to Aurilles immediately to save William.”
“William?”
Rowan froze for a moment as the name surfaced in her mind. The general everyone believed had died years ago. One of Kain’s soldiers.
Her expression instantly turned serious. All her sleepiness and irritation vanished.
“Lark. Vale.” She turned toward the back room and raised her voice. “Pack everything and come with me. Bring the best medicine we have. All of it. And…”
She paused. A painfully obvious look of regret crossed her face for half a second.
“Bring the Frostvine too.”

That was her greatest treasure.
It was a rare herb that appears only once every hundred years. She had spent a fortune and owed several powerful people favors just to get it. Normally, she would not even let people look at it for too long
When Rowan moved, she moved fast.
She actually arrived at Silvermoon Pack before Laila and was already waiting at the entrance.
Before leaving, Laila took the pigeon message and went to find Morgana.
“Your Highness.” She handed over the note. “Tomorrow, please go to the Royal Palace and give this to King Vaughn. And remember to tell him this pigeon belongs to me. It only recognizes me, so the message came directly to me. The situation is urgent, so I left the city tonight.”
Morgana accepted the note and looked it over several times, completely confused. “Is that really necessary? Things are already so urgent. Can’t you explain after you come back? You’re saving someone anyway-”
Laila raised a hand and gently pressed it against Morgana’s arm, cutting her off. Her expression was extremely serious.
“It’s necessary,” she said firmly. “Very necessary. Listen to me. Go first thing tomorrow morning. Do not delay.”
Then she turned to Gracie. “Make sure you remind the princess tomorrow. Make sure she goes.”
Gracie straightened her back immediately, her voice loud like a soldier reporting to a commander. “Understood! She will absolutely bring the pigeon message to the Royal Court tomorrow and repeat your exact words to His Majesty without missing a single one.”
