Chapter 410 He Might Still Have Feelings for Her
Third–person POV:
Everyone was busy living their own lives. Every day, Holt still left for work like usual, acting as if nothing had changed while doing his best to keep anyone from noticing how miserable he really was inside.
He was still trying, in secret, to figure out a way to sever the mate bond on his side alone, but so far, he had come up with nothing.
Lately, work had swallowed up nearly all of his time, and he hardly spared Victoria a second thought anymore. Meanwhile, Victoria had never felt so alone in her life.
It had been a long while since she and Holt had felt truly close to each other.
The Cottontail they kept at home had died after being neglected for too long, so she headed into the market district to buy a new one.
The very last person she thought she would see there was Terrence.
And he was there picking out a Cottontail too.
He was crouched beside the cage, lightly stroking the rabbit’s long, droopy ears. The look on his face was surprisingly gentle, softer than she had ever seen from him before. Then, as if he felt someone watching him, he lifted his head and looked straight at her.
Victoria froze like she’d been hit by lightning. Her whole body went stiff.
He’d gotten much more tan since the last time she saw him. But he was still unbelievably handsome, still carried himself with that quiet confidence that seemed effortless. Tall and broad–shouldered, with his back straight and steady as always. Even surrounded by people, he was the first person her eyes found.
Terrence looked at her, paused for a second. Then he looked away like nothing had happened and turned
to walk off. 1
Without thinking, Victoria stepped forward.
She wanted to chase after him.
But the instant her foot hit the ground, she forced herself to stop.
She was the Luna of Ironclaw Pack now. The streets around them were crowded, full of people watching and talking. If anyone saw her chasing after her ex–husband, it wouldn’t only embarrass her–it would disgrace the entire Ironclaw Pack.
Terrence was already gone, disappearing farther into the crowd without once turning around.
Victoria stayed where she was, unable to move, staring after him until his figure vanished from sight. Her fingers slowly curled tighter around her sleeve.
After she got back home, an uneasy feeling settled over her, and she barely had the appetite to touch her

dinner.
She spent hours sitting by the window, waiting. But even late into the night, Holt still hadn’t come home.
One of the maids came into the room with a glass of water in her hands, quietly watching Victoria’s faqe before speaking. “Luna, Alpha Holt will be staying in the study tonight. He said he’s still busy with work and told you not to wait up.”
Victoria said nothing. She just gripped the pillow beside her tighter and tighter.
He isn’t coming.
Before, she would’ve felt hurt or disappointed. But now… she couldn’t even put her feelings into words anymore. Part of her felt relieved, while another part felt like something heavy was sitting in her chest, making it hard to breathe.
She ended up blaming Jillian for it. Sending back the compensation money without telling her had closed every door she might’ve used to turn back, as if Jillian had made a clean cut through whatever ties she still had to her past. Now, Victoria felt stuck in the worst possible place.
No. Whatever it took, she needed to see him.
Even now, the memory of Terrence’s look in the shopping district made her heart beat faster. It had only lasted a second, but they had once been married. If anyone could read what had been behind his eyes, it was her.
He still hadn’t moved on from her. He still had feelings for her.
Victoria rolled over and buried her face in the pillow, unable to fall asleep all night.
By the time early morning came–long before the sun had fully risen–she finally got up.
She stood at the vanity for a long while, carefully putting herself together. After going through her closet, she chose a pale purple dress she had never worn before, then gently pinned a fresh rose into her hair.
Beth stood nearby watching her, feeling that something about her Luna seemed different today.
