My Drama King Husband (Yvaine and Silas) novel Chapter 20

After finishing the daily report, Yvaine gave a satisfied nod.

Normally, this was the cue for the assistant to leave the office. But she stayed rooted to the spot, hugging her tablet to her chest. She looked like she was desperately holding something back.

"Was there something else?" Yvaine asked.

The assistant nodded hesitantly. "Did you happen to see the news about Mr. Lowell yesterday?"

"What news?"

Between working all day, attending the family dinner, and then dealing with Silas all night... She hadn't exactly had time to check her social feeds.

The assistant pulled up a trending video on her phone and handed it over.

Yvaine watched the clip. It was footage of Zachary taking Xylia out to an absurdly expensive, highly-paparazzied restaurant in the city.

As the heir to the Lowell empire, Zachary had movie-star looks and millions of followers across his socials. In today's hyper-connected world, he practically had A-list celebrity status.

Xylia Sutton was a literal nobody—a D-list actress clawing for scraps. But thanks to this dinner, she was currently trending everywhere.

The internet had already dug up her entire background: a junior at a local media college who had barely set foot in the industry.

The comment sections were flooded with people declaring that she had hit the ultimate jackpot. With Zachary Lowell backing her, she would never have to audition for a role again.

The assistant watched her boss's face like a hawk.

Yvaine skimmed the video for a few seconds, then casually handed the phone back. "Got it. You can go now."

Utterly baffled by the lack of reaction, the assistant quietly left the room.

Yvaine immediately went back to work. As far as she was concerned, Zachary was officially a thing of the past.

——

Across town, Zachary was sitting in a private lounge, aggressively downing expensive liquor.

It had been four days. Four full days since Yvaine had declared they were done.

She hadn't called. She hadn't texted. She hadn't even reached out to any of their mutual friends to see how he was doing.
