But it was exactly what she had expected. Zachary had only come here today to pick a fight.

It was probably because she hadn't actively sought him out to apologize and beg for peace over the past few days.

Or maybe it was because she had bluntly rejected Ryan last night.

Or knowing him, it was a volatile mix of both.

"Understood," Yvaine said, her professional smile never wavering. "We will implement the revisions based on Mr. Lowell's concerns."

"We'll have a definitive revised proposal to you in a few days."

Zachary frowned as he watched her.

He was thoroughly dissatisfied with her attitude.

She was being entirely too formal, treating him strictly like a corporate client rather than her boyfriend.

He let out a cold scoff, his expression darkening. "Then I look forward to Ms. Sterling's proposal."

It didn't matter what kind of brilliant revisions she came up with anyway. He was going to reject the plan regardless.

Yvaine nodded, maintaining her pleasant composure. "Mr. Lowell, it's almost noon. Would you care to join me for lunch?"

Zachary shot her a disdainful look and sneered, "I'm entirely dissatisfied with your work. I'm too annoyed to have an appetite."

Yvaine's smile remained perfectly intact. "My sincere apologies, Mr. Lowell. Rest assured, we'll expedite the revisions."

She turned to her assistant. "Sarah, please see Mr. Lowell and Mona out."

Zachary stiffened.

He hadn't actually said he was leaving yet. Wasn't she the one who just invited him to lunch?

Sure, he had rejected her initial offer, but didn't she know she was supposed to try begging him a few more times?

She used to be so good at softly coaxing him when he was upset.

Why wasn't she coaxing him now?

Was she bored of him?

Tired of playing the game?

"Heh..." Zachary scoffed bitterly, abruptly spinning on his heel and storming out of the room.

Mona shot Yvaine a quick, sympathetic glance before hurrying after him.
