My Drama King Husband (Yvaine and Silas) novel Chapter 26

She wasn't blind. It was blindingly obvious that her boss and Mr. Lowell were in the middle of a massive fight.

Was it about him getting caught fraternizing with that minor celebrity?

Was that why they were at each other's throats?

Logically, Mr. Lowell was the one clearly in the wrong. Ms. Sterling was the one who should be furious. Yet today, her boss had remained flawlessly professional, greeting him with a polite smile, while the guilty party had spent the entire meeting acting entirely outraged.

Where exactly did Mr. Lowell get the audacity?

Oh, right... from the immense power of the Lowell Group.

Sarah hurried back to the office and approached Yvaine. "Ms. Sterling, Mr. Lowell has safely departed in his car."

Yvaine nodded without looking up from her paperwork.

Sarah hesitated for a moment before cautiously adding, "Ms. Sterling, I believe Mr. Lowell... actually did want to have lunch with you."

Yvaine finally looked up, her expression calm. "Didn't he flat-out refuse my invitation?"

Sarah shifted awkwardly. "...Men can be incredibly stubborn and say the exact opposite of what they mean."

Honestly, everyone in the room could read the dynamic today. Project X had absolutely zero flaws. Mr. Lowell was purely picking bones out of an egg just to assert his presence and force an interaction.

Someone as exceptionally intelligent as the General Manager couldn't possibly have missed it.

Yvaine stared at her blankly. "...Sarah, since when does a secretary need to double as her boss's relationship counselor?"

Sarah's intentions were painfully transparent: she was trying to play matchmaker and smooth things over between the couple.

Sarah froze, instantly realizing she had crossed a line. "I'm so sorry, Ms. Sterling. I overstepped."

She was just a secretary. Her only job was to handle her professional duties.

She absolutely had no right meddling in her boss's personal affairs.

Yvaine offered a soft, dismissing smile but didn't say another word.

Sarah quickly exited the office.

She immediately texted Mona: Girl, sorry, I can't persuade her.

Mona: ...!!! Girl, I am doomed!!!

Mona was going to suffer absolute hell today—and likely for the rest of the week.
