"If you knew you did something wrong, you should have apologized to me! Not run off and married someone else!" Zachary fired back furiously.
Yvaine just looked at him.
"I did analyze it. I didn't do anything wrong."
Zachary was speechless.
He stared at her, a cold sneer forming on his lips. "Oh, you're right. You're completely blameless. The only one at fault here is that bastard Silas for ever stepping foot in Brenok."
"...This has nothing to do with him," Yvaine insisted.
Zachary offered her one last sinister, chilling smile.
Then, he turned on his heel and walked out.
Yvaine furrowed her brow.
Outside the office, the head of security and his team were just preparing to break down the door when it swung open on its own.
Sarah Sinclair and the group of guards stood there, staring at Zachary.
"Get out of my way."
Startled, Sarah and the guards quickly stepped aside.
Zachary marched off without a backward glance.
Sarah watched him leave before rushing into the office. Seeing Yvaine, she asked nervously, "Ms. Sterling, are you okay?"
Yvaine let out a long breath and shook her head. "I'm fine."
Her body was still entirely tense. Even though she knew Zachary wouldn't actually hit her no matter how furious he got, he was still terrifying.
He was used to being completely lawless, arrogant, and reckless. No one ever truly knew what he was capable of.
Even she couldn't guarantee her safety.
Sarah frowned as she took in the chaotic state of the office—the scattered files and shattered ornaments across the floor.
Had Mr. Lowell actually gotten violent?
What kind of man was he?
Throwing a tantrum and intimidating a woman.
"Could you clean this up?" Yvaine asked quietly.
Sarah nodded immediately and got to work, gathering the scattered documents and sweeping up the broken glass.
While cleaning, she noticed the vivid droplets of blood splattered across the floor. She froze.
Whose blood was this?
"Ms. Sterling, are you hurt? Why... why is there blood on the floor?" Sarah asked, her voice laced with panic.
"It's not mine," Yvaine replied.
Sarah fell silent.
If it wasn't the boss's blood...
Then it had to be Mr. Lowell's.
