A split second later, Yvaine broke eye contact and calmly rolled up the window. Silas merged onto the road and drove away.
Inside his own car, Zachary frowned deeply as he watched them leave.
Who was driving Yvaine?
He had clearly seen a man behind the wheel, and the license plates... they were from Docksy.
Docksy?
Zachary's frown deepened. He pulled out his phone, ready to shoot her an angry text demanding answers, but he stopped himself at the last second.
He couldn't be the first to reach out.
Historically, every time they fought, Yvaine was the one who eventually caved and contacted him first. This time would be no different.
Zachary shoved his phone back into his pocket.

When Yvaine and Silas walked out of the civil affairs bureau, they were each holding a sleek, official marriage certificate.
Silas stopped and looked down at her.
Yvaine blinked, confused. "Is there something else we need to do?"
"In the mainland, don't you people usually take photos and post them on your social feed to document your life?" Silas asked.
It was a massive life event. Why wasn't she posting about it?
Yvaine was a smart woman. He was laying it on pretty thick—he explicitly wanted her to post it.
Yvaine held her certificate next to his. She pulled out her phone, snapped a quick photo of their hands holding the documents, and uploaded it to her social feed.
Caption: Married.
Silas stared at her. That was it? Just a flat, one-word announcement of 'Married'?
Shouldn't there be a paragraph of sweet nonsense? Something like, 'So lucky to have met you, please take care of me forever, blah blah blah'?
