Chapter 172

Chapter 172

“I never said that,” Aiden replied coldly, his eyes hardening. “Or maybe you’re just having a guilty conscience…”

Tracy’s nostrils flared, her anger burning hot and fast. “You think everyone’s like you…someone who betrays the people they love? I would never do that! I don’t even know why Amelia still lets you anywhere near her after everything you did….after breaking her, after being such a cold, heartless bastard. I hope she never forgives you! You don’t deserve to be an Alpha…you should be a rogue, a—”

“Mind your tongue, little woman,” Aiden growled, his voice rumling deep from his chest like thunder. “I’m still the Alpha here. Watch your words before I rip that sharp tongue out and feed it to the dogs.”

Tracy’s breath caught; fear streaked down her spine, but she refused to look away. James clenched his fists at his sides, knuckles whitening, trying to diffuse the crackling tension in the room.

“That’s enough, Tracy,” he said firmly, cutting through the silence. His tone left no room for argument. “Go to your room. Now.”

Tracy threw one last glare at Aiden, her eyes glinting with hate and hurt, before she spun on her heel and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

When the echo faded, James turned back to Aiden. “What was that? That wasn’t part of the plan,” he said, his voice low, tight with frustration.

Aiden leaned against the desk, jaw clenched. “Don’t tell me you actually trust that woman. Think about it, James. She was a captive for months, then suddenly escapes without a scratch? Her story doesn’t add up. Not to me.”

James exhaled sharply. “Aiden, you’re letting paranoia cloud your judgment. She barely made it out alive! You saw her-she’s traumatized. We should be grateful she escaped, not accuse her.”

Aiden sighed, the sound heavy. “Fine,” he muttered after a moment. “But if I’m right, and she is working with them, I won’t hesitate to kill her myself.”

His voice dropped to a deadly calm. “Gather the guards. We leave in thirty minutes.”

Without another word, he strode out of the study, leaving James alone in the thick silence.

Aiden walked into his room, stopping in front of the mirror. He pulled his shirt up and stared at the sore on his arm — the black veins pulsing outward, golden mist seeping through broken skin. The wound looked worse than before, raw and almost… alive.

He stared at his reflection, his jaw tightening. The pain in his arm was nothing compared to the weight pressing against his chest.

After a long pause, he lowered the shirt, exhaled, and walked out Downstairs, the men were already waiting.

Minutes later, five black SUVS idled in the shadows just outside the old property where Tracy had once been held captive. The air was thick with tension and gun oil.

Aiden stepped out first, his boots crunching against gravel. James and a dozen armed soldiers followed. Every man carried a gun loaded with silver bullets – except Aiden. He didn’t need of

They stood before the quiet, decaying house. The woods around them were silent perimeter, his sharp gaze darting through the mist.

“Alpha Aiden,” one of the men called out suddenly.

too silent. Aiden scanned the

Aiden turned. The soldier pointed toward a tree, where a body ngled lifelessly from a thick branch.

Aiden’s eyes darkened. He walked closer, inspecting the corpse its skin was pale, veins blackened, dried blood crusting at the edges of the mouth.

“Cut him down,” Aiden ordered.

Two men hurried to obey, lowering the body as the others followed their Alpha toward the house.

When they reached the front porch, Aiden stopped, inhaling deeply. He tried to catch a scent, a sound or anything but the air was eerily clean. No wolves. No movement. Nothing.

From the outside, the house looked almost ordinary freshly painted walls, tidy windows – but Aiden’s instincts screamed otherwise.

James raised two fingers, signaling the men to surround the perimeter. They moved swiftly, silent as shadows.

Aiden nodded at one of the soldiers, who kicked the front door open. The hinges screamed as the door crashed to the floor, sending dust swirling into the air.

“Move,” Aiden commanded.

Aiden pressed the power button. The screen flickered on. A sing voicemail blinked in the inbox.

He played it.

“What do you mean she’s gone?! Find her or I’ll kill you myse!”

The voice blasted through the tiny speaker deep, commanding, unmistakable.

Aiden’s grip tightened until the phone nearly snapped. His breath came shallow, sharp. It was his father’s voice.

He staggered back a step as memories collided, the day in the hospital corridor, hearing the same tone, the same words.

He’d taken Amelia’s family. He’d ordered the abductions. And when Tracy escaped… he killed the man responsible.

Aiden’s eyes burned. Rage coiled inside him, dark and wild.

“What is it?” James asked, watching him closely.

“Nothing,” Aiden said tightly, forcing control back into his voice. There’s nothing left here. They knew we were coming.”

He turned and strode out, his pace fast, deliberate.

James followed, concern etching lines across his face.

But Aiden didn’t look back. He climbed into his car, jaw set, knuckles white against the steering wheel.

Anger radiated off him like heat.

He had his answer now.

And he was going to kill his father.
