My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 178

Chapter 178

“No, Alpha. He is not. It is my choice to marry you, and it’s an honor…” Racheal said softly, her voice trembling but steady enough to hold conviction.

Aiden stared at her for a long moment, his expression unreadable, before he turned away. His jaw tightened.

“Show her to her room,” he said finally, his tone clipped and cold

James blinked in confusion. He looked from Aiden to Racheal, unsure what to say. The air felt thick with something he couldn’t name. Aiden didn’t wait for an answer, he turned and walked away, his steps heavy and unhurried, disappearing up the grand staircase toward his room.

James exhaled and turned back to Racheal, forcing a dry smile. Come with me.”

He led her upstairs, his footsteps echoing against the quiet hall. When they reached the guest room, he gestured toward it.

“You’ll be staying here for now,” he said simply. Then, without another word, he turned and left to find Aiden.

He found him in the study.

Aiden sat slumped in his chair, his elbows on his desk, a handkerchief crumpled in his palm. Beads of sweat glistened on his forehead despite the cool air. His face was pale, his eyes hollow like something vital had been drained from him.

“Aiden,” James said cautiously, stepping closer. “Are you okay?”

Aiden lifted his gaze slowly, his eyes dim. “Yeah… Is Racheal settled yet?”

“Yes, she is,” James replied, crossing his arms. “But what’s going on? Why did you agree to marry her? I thought you didn’t want to.”

Aiden’s jaw clenched. He picked up the handkerchief and wiped his face with slow, deliberate movements. Then his voice came out low, calm, but brittle.

“I had an agreement with my father.”

James frowned. “What agreement?”

Aiden leaned back in his chair, staring blankly at the wall. “That he’d release Amelia’s family… in exchange for my marriage to Racheal.”

James froze, his brows knitting in disbelief. “Wait-what? You mean your father was behind all of this? Even Tracy’s disappearance? How did you find out?”

Aiden’s lips twitched bitterly. “At the house where Tracy was held I found evidence the bullet and a voice recording from the phone. Both linked back to my father.” He paused, swallowing hard. “I confronted him. He didn’t deny it. He told me the truth… and he offered a deal. My marriage to Racheal for the safe return of Amelia’s family. They’re at the hospital now. So I’ll have to keep my end of the bargain.”

His voice broke at the end, and for a moment, silence filled the om heavy and suffocating

James rubbed the back of his neck, trying to make sense of it all But Aiden… you don’t even know this girl.

“It doesn’t matter,” Aiden said hoarsely. “I’ll get to know her.” He hrugged like the words didn’t sting, but his hands trembled on the desk.

James sighed. “Does Amelia know?”

Aiden’s eyes flickered up. “About what?”

“That your father was behind her family’s disappearance.”

“No,” Aiden said quickly. “And you can’t tell Tracy either. She’ll tell Amelia, and that’ll only make things worse.”

James studied him for a long moment before nodding. “Alright.

“Make sure Racheal is comfortable,” Aiden added quietly. “Start reparing for the wedding ceremony. She’s not my mate, so there’s no need for a mating ritual.”

The words came out cold, but James could feel the cracks beneath them. He gave a stiff nod and walked out.

The moment he stepped into the hallway, he saw Tracy walking toward him. Her arms were crossed, her face tight with barely-contained emotion.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she muttered, brushing past him slightly. “I just saw that lady Aiden’s supposed to marry.” Her lips curled into a faint scoff.

“Yes, but…” the nurse hesitated, shifting nervously. “Alpha Aiden pecifically asked that you attend to them yourself.”

Cassia blinked, confusion washing over her. “Aiden told you that Where is he now?”

“He brought the patients in himself,” Mira explained. “Then left. He said to tell you they were… special patients. That you should handle them personally.”

Cassia glanced at her watch. It was late… far too late. She should’ve been home hours ago. But something in Mira’s tone, something in the weight of those words, tugged at her chest.

She sighed, shutting her car door. “Alright. Let’s go.”

As they walked down the corridor toward the ward, the sound of their footsteps echoed faintly. Cassia’s heart beat faster with every step.

“Did you get the patient’s name… the one diagnosed with Veylor?” she asked quietly.

“Yes,” Mira said, flipping through the clipboard. “It’s all in the records.”

“What’s her name?”

Mira

“Evel

pushed the door open and spoke softly…almost too softly.

Lopez.”

Cassia froze.

The name slammed into her like a physical blow. For a heartbeat everything stopped – her breath, her heartbeat, her thoughts. Then the air left her lungs all at once.

Her eyes widened, her fingers tightening around the edge of the doorway as the world tilted beneath her.
