My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 177

Chapter 177

Aiden froze the moment his eyes met Beta Greg’s.

For a heartbeat, the world went still. The sound of rustling leaves faded, the whisper of the evening wind fell silent and all that existed was the ghost of what used to be between them.

Greg’s eyes were tired, colder than Aiden remembered. His once proud shoulders sagged, and his grip around his unconscious wife trembled. Aiden’s throat tightened. He had imagined this moment a hundred times, but nothing could have prepared him for the ache that pierced through his chest now.

Gloria stood beside her father, her hair unevenly trimmed, face pale and hollow. The girl who once smiled shyly and happily looked like she had forgotten how to smile at all.

Every cut, every bruise on them felt like a punishment to him one Aiden knew he partly deserved.

The last time he’d seen Beta Greg and Evelyn was the day he’d stormed into their home like a monster, demanding to know where Amelia was. Now, standing here, the guilt hit him like a blow. They believed he’d killed their daughter – and maybe, in a way, he had.

Greg was the first to break the silence. “Please,” his voice cracked hoarse from exhaustion. “I have to get her to the hospital.”

Aiden blinked and nodded quickly, as if waking from a trance. “Of course… here, let me help.”

He rushed forward, helping Greg lower Evelyn into his car. Greg climbed into the front passenger seat, while Gloria slid quietly into the backseat beside her mother.

As Aiden drove, the silence inside the car was suffocating. The engine hummed softly, the wind brushed against the windows, and in the rearview mirror, Gloria’s face remained expressionless as she stared out into nothing.

Aiden’s gaze flicked toward Greg. The man’s beard had grown rough, streaked with gray; his hands were bruised, trembling slightly on his knees. The Beta he’d once known as indestructible now looked fragile, like he’d aged a decade in months.

Pity clawed through Aiden’s chest. This was his father’s doing. His father’s cruelty.

And yet… the guilt didn’t stop there. Because somewhere deep inside, he knew he carried part of the blame too.

“I’m sorry,” Aiden said quietly, his voice rough, raw. “For everything that happened to you and your family, Beta Greg. I know you have every reason to hate me after what I did… but I wish I could take it all back.”

Greg’s eyes stayed on the road ahead. He didn’t speak, didn’t even flinch – but the faint tightening of his jaw told Aiden he had heard.

Aiden sighed, his chest feeling heavier with every second. “You don’t have to forgive me. I just needed you to know that I’m sorry… and that I’ll do anything to make things right.”

Still, silence.

He wanted to tell them Amelia was alive that she was breathing, and fine, that they would see her again. But the words got caught in his throat. He wanted Amelia to see them herself, to have that moment of reunion that would heal them all. So he kept driving, quietly, the ache in his chest burning like fire.

Minutes later, he screeched to a stop in front of the hospital. Aiden jumped out and waved down the nurses. “She needs help, now!” he ordered, his voice sharp with urgency.

Nurses rushed forward, lifting Evelyn onto a stretcher. “Nurse Mral” Aiden called out when he spotted her at the hallway. “Tell Doctor Cassia she’s to handle this case personally. These people… they’re special to her”.

Rachel.

She sat in the living room, her posture elegant yet unsure. The moment their gazes met, she stood up and bowed quickly. “Alpha Aiden. I apologize for coming without notice. Your father asked me to come.”

Aiden stared at her silently. His jaw tightened. His father had kept his end of the bargain… and now, it was his turn.

He could feel James’s eyes on him, waiting for the explosion, for Aiden to rage, to throw her out. But none of that came. His expression remained unreadable.

“Do you really want to marry me, Rachel?” he asked quietly, his tone stripped of warmth or anger….just weary neutrality.

Rachel looked startled, then nodded quickly. “Yes, Alpha. I do.”

Aiden’s gaze lingered on her face, searching for a lie. “Being married to me comes with more than you can imagine,” he murmured. “I hope you understand what you’re asking for.”

“I do,” she said softly. “It would be an honor to be your Luna.”

Aiden’s throat tightened. For a brief moment, Amelia’s face flashed in his mind…her laugh, her tears, her scent. The ache that followed almost crushed him.

He turned to James. “Show her to her room.”

And without another word, he walked away, leaving Rachel standing there, and the ghost of his heart still chained to the woman he could never forget.
