My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 184

Chapter 184

Cassia’s glare lingered on him, confusion knitting her brows. Why had he pulled back so suddenly? Had she done something wrong?

“Did I do something wrong?” she asked softly, her voice a mix of hesitation and hurt.

“What? No-of course not,” Damien said quickly, his tone uneven. He rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze flicking away from hers. “I mean… I know you’re mad at me, and now you’re suddenly kissing me, it feels-hell, Cassia-it feels scary. Because if I kiss you back, I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop myself.”

Cassia bit her inner lip, her heart thudding so loudly she swore he could hear it. Her eyes locked on his, the air between them trembling with tension.

“I know I’m supposed to be mad at you,” she murmured, her voice almost a whisper, “but I’m not, Damien. I already forgave you.”

He let out a deep breath he hadn’t realized he was holding, his shoulders loosening just slightly.

“And if you kiss me,” she continued, moving closer until she could feel the warmth radiating off him, “I don’t want you to stop either.”

A smile ghosted across Damien’s lips. He reached out, brushing his thumb along her jaw, and then leaned in-pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead, then another to her cheek. His breath grazed her skin.

“Arthur might walk in on us…” he murmured against her cheek, voice husky with restraint.

Cassia chuckled softly, stepping back with a teasing glint in her eyes. “You’re right.”

He smiled, watching her fondly. “I tried calling last night after you left that text. You’ve never slept at the hospital before…no matter how bad the emergency. I was worried, especially when your phone was switched off. What happened?”

Cassia’s lips curved into a wide, almost disbelieving smile. “I found my family.”

Damien’s brows shot up, his entire face shifting in surprise. “What? How?”

“I mean… I didn’t find them exactly,” she explained, her excitement flickering like sunlight through clouds. “Aiden found them. He brought them to the hospital.”

At the mention of Aiden’s name, Damien’s expression subtly changed…just a flicker…but it was enough. He masked it quickly with a calm, unreadable look. Still, a thought crept in, bitter and sharp. Aiden, always the hero.

“How did Aiden find them?” Damien asked carefully. “We’ve been in Red Moon Pack for months, searching everywhere, and suddenly he just… finds them? Out of nowhere?”

Cassia frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I mean what if he’s the one who held them captive all along? And now he’s just releasing them, pretending to be the savior so you’d trust him again?” Damien’s voice was low, almost reluctant, but the suspicion in it was unmistakable.

Cassia stared at him, speechless Her chest tightened Damien’s words echoed in her mind, unsettling her more than she wanted to admit. She thought back to her argument with Aiden the hallway how he’d said they hadn’t found her family yet. And now suddenly, they were here?

It didn’t make sense.

But… no. She shook her head slightly. Aiden would never harm her family. He wasn’t capable of that Her father would have told her….wouldn’t he? Yet when she’d asked him who was behin all of this, he had avoided her eyes, his silence heavy and strange. Still, her father had said Aiden was the reason they were live-that he’d saved them

Her thoughts tangled and twisted like roots.

“Cassia…” Damien’s voice pulled her back. She blinked, realizing she’d been staring at nothing.

“Right,” Damien said, chuckling. “We should go now.”

He grabbed the lunch box from the dining table, then leaned down to press a quick kiss on Cassia’s cheek before reaching for Arthur’s hand.

“Bye, Mommy!” Arthur waved, his grin wide and sweet.

Cassia blew him a kiss. “Bye, baby. Be good.”

She watched as Damien and Arthur walked away together-side by side, their silhouettes framed by the morning light streaming through the doorway. They looked so natural together like father and son. The sight brought a soft smile to her face.

But that smile slowly faded.

Her mind drifted back to Aiden who was the real father of her child and he doesn’t even know yet. He’d left the hospital right after bringing her parents, he hadn’t even waited for her to pay thank you. That wasn’t like him.

Was he angry at her for what she said?

The thought knotted her stomach. Or maybe… she just missed him. His presence, his steady voice, that quiet intensity that always drew her in.

She dragged a hand through her hair, shaking her head.

“What’s wrong with you, Cassia?” she muttered under her breath “Stop thinking about him.”

But she couldn’t. His scent, his touch, those brown eyes that could undo her with a single look…they lingered in her mind, haunting her like a memory she couldn’t let go of. No matter how hard she tried to push him away, he stayed-burned into her thoughts, into her heart.
