My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 196

Chapter 196

“…I didn’t even say goodbye to my mom,” Amelia whispered again, her voice barely audible as she collapsed against Aiden’s chest. Her body shook with sobs, every breath trembling as though grief itself was tearing her apart.

Aiden’s throat tightened. “I’m sorry,” he murmured, his voice rough with emotion. He wrapped his arms around her small frame, his hand moving slowly up and down her back in soft, comforting circles. She buried her face into his shoulder and wept… deep, raw, and broken.

He didn’t stop her. He didn’t tell her to calm down or to breathe He just held her. Let her cry until the storm within her began to quiet.

Ten minutes passed-maybe more-before her sobs softened into quiet sniffles. Being close to him somehow made her calm and made her feel less pain. When he finally pulled away, i was only to look at her. Her face was pale and swollen from crying, her lashes damp, her lips trembling as she tried to steady her breathing.

Without a word, Aiden brushed his thumb gently across her check, wiping away the last of her tears. His eyes softened, his chest aching at how fragile she looked. “Come,” he whispered, taking her hand and leading her gently toward the bed.

She followed without protest, sitting down slowly.

“I want to get home to Arthur,” she said quietly, her voice weak, eyes glassy.

Aiden crouched in front of her, his gaze steady. “You can’t see him like this,” he said softly. “You have to calm down first, Amelia. He doesn’t need to see you hurting like this.”

She looked away, blinking back more tears. As much as she hated to admit it, he was right. She couldn’t let her son see her broken.

He rose and disappeared into the hallway, returning moments later with a glass of water. He handed it to her, their fingers brushing briefly.

“Drink,” he said gently.

She hesitated before taking a sip, then passed the glass back to him. He placed it carefully on the table, his gaze never leaving her face.

“Do you need anything else?” he asked. “I’ll get it for you.”

Amelia stared at him for a long moment, saying nothing. Then she shook her head faintly.

He gave a quiet nod, his tone softening. “Alright. I’ll just… be over there if you need me.”

He turned to walk away, but her hand shot out suddenly and caught his.

Aiden froze. The moment her skin touched his, it felt as if the a had vanished between them. A jolt of heat ran down his spine, and his wolf stirred instantly beneath his skin, alive and restless. He turned to look at her, his breath catching when their eyes met.

For a heartbeat, everything stilled.

Her fingers slipped from his slowly, as though realizing what she done. She wanted to ask him to stay-he could see it in her eyes-but pride, or maybe pain, made her look away instead

Aiden swallowed hard and drew in a slow breath, trying to steady himself. “Alright,” he whispered, his voice hoarse. He turned and walked to the couch in the corner of the room, lowering himself onto it.

Silence stretched between them-thick, fragile, filled with the sound of their breathing.

She lay on the bed, curled under the duvet, and he sat a few feet away, watching her through the faint flicker of lamplight.

He climbed onto the bed beside her, hesitated for half a second, hen slipped his arm around her shoulders. She didn’t resist. She just turned into him, pressing her face against his chest as if searching for something solid to hold on to.

His heart raced as he held her closer, feeling the soft tremor of her body against his. Her scent filled his lungs, familiar and sweet-a painful reminder of everything he’d lost and still couldn’t stop wanting.

“I waited seven years,” she whispered, her voice muffled against m. “Seven good years to see her again… and now she’s gone.”

A single tear slid down her cheek, landing warm against his skin

Aiden swallowed hard, his hand threading gently through her her. “I know,” he whispered, his voice low and broken. “I’m so Sorry, Amelia.”

She didn’t reply. Her breathing slowed little by little, her body stening in his hold until, finally, her eyes fluttered closed.

He looked down at her-at the woman who had once been his everything and still somehow was. Her face, though damp with tears, was peaceful now.

Aiden brushed his thumb against her cheek, his chest heavy with unspoken words.

“This was all his fault,” he murmured under his breath, anger flickering behind his sorrow. His father. The man who had set all of this in motion.

He stared at Amelia again, his jaw hardening. “And I’ll never forgive him,” he whispered. “Or myself.”

The room fell silent again. Only the sound of her soft breathing remained, and the distant hum of the night beyond the glass.

Aiden lay there for a long while, holding her close, the weight of guilt pressing on his heart like a promise he could never break.
