181 Lily’s Concern

The more Oriana replayed the embarrassing scene in her mind, the hotter her face felt. S! e buried her hands in her cheeks, burning red from head to toe.

“Good morning.”

Micah’s deep, sensual voice sounded, and Oriana awkwardly lowered her hands. “Did I wake you?”

“No, my body clock just went off.”

Micah slowly pushed himself up. “Did you sleep well last night?”

“Ah, um yeah, pretty well!”

“That’s good.” Micah explained gently, “You seemed a little uneasy last night. I stayed behind because I didn’t want you to be scared.”

“I remember. I wouldn’t let go of you,” Oriana said, her face heating even more with a mix of shame and regret. “Sorry, it’s my first time getting drunk and acting forward.”

“You were adorable, not forward,” Micah chuckled softly.

“But still, try not to drink outside anymore. If you really want to, at least I need to be there with you.” He straightened his expression as he said it.

Oriana’s gaze flickered, thinking of the filthy tricks Grant and the others pulled last night. Her expression darkened slightly.

“I know. Sorry for making you worry.”

Micah frowned slightly. He held her shoulders and said seriously, “Don’t blame yourself for what bad people do. You’ve done well already. It’s good you told me ahead of time.”

Oriana shivered at the memory, still feeling uneasy. “Yeah, I felt something was off at the time, so I asked Lily to send you a message. Thankfully, you arrived in time.”

Micah looked at her with warmth. She had no idea how terrified he had been the moment he received her distress message.

On the way over, he urged himself relentlessly, wishing he could replace Kieran and arrive at her side as quickly as possible.

Luckily, he made it.

Oriana frowned slightly, finally remembering to be concerned. “What about Grant? He didn’t give you trouble?”

She started checking Micah from head to toe for injuries. When she pulled back the covers, she realized Micah had only wrapped himself in her robe, which barely reached her calves. With his long legs and a restless night of tossing and turning, the robe had ridden up to his thighs.

widened as she accidentally saw something she shouldn’t have. She quickly covered herself with a flustered gasp.

Clearing his throat, Micah said, “Kieran brought bodyguards with him. He couldn’t hurt me

“But you’re hurt.”

Oriana suddenly remembered her forehead and reached up to touch it. “Oh, this? I think I just bumped it. No big deal.”

But as she touched it, a sharp pain made her wince and grit her teeth.

Micah pulled her hand away, his face stern. “Don’t move. I’ll apply the medicine.”

Oriana obediently stayed quiet this time. She didn’t want to see him worry over her.

He looked better when he smiled.

After breakfast, just as she was about to leave, Micah suddenly called out to her. “I’ll pick you up tonight.”

“Huh?”

Oriana, putting on her shoes, shook her head with a smile, thinking he was being overly cautious. “It’s okay. I’ll be back on time. I won’t wander off.”

“There’s a dinner. I’ll take you with me.”

“Oh, okay. I’ll message you after work.”

“Okay.”

Watching her walk away cheerfully, the moment the elevator doors closed, the gentle warmth in Micah’s expression vanished completely, replaced by a cold, severe glare.

When Oriana arrived at school, Lily approached with a bright smile.

“Oriana, can I ask you something?”

Since Oriana knew from Micah that Lily had made it home safely last night, she wasn’t too worried.

It was the first time Oriana saw Lily like this, a little heart–fluttery?

She smiled, “Sure, go ahead.”

“So do you know who called me last night to let me know you were safe?” Lily fidgeted. “From the way he spoke, it sounded like someone from your husband’s team? His voice was so nice, a little nasal, young- sounding, exactly the type I like!”

Oriana was stunned. “You don’t remember? You’ve met him before. That’s Kieran, Micah’s assistant.”

Lily’s shy expression instantly crumbled into a mess. “What? Him? No way his voice wasn’t like that before!”

“Maybe he’s had a cold these past couple of days. I didn’t really pay attention.”

Oriana wasn’t as obsessed with voices as Lily was.

“Wow, I thought it would be some steady, handsome guy. Turns out it’s him,” Lily said, looking disappointed.

Oriana couldn’t help laughing. “Kieran’s good–looking, too.”

Lily pouted. “Too refined and sharp, not my type. I like calm, young guys!”

Oriana stifled her laugh and was about to reassure Lily further when her phone rang. It was William. “Come to the hospital. An emergency patient was transferred to the Multi–Disciplinary Team and requires immediate surgery.”

Oriana quickly composed herself. “I’ll be there right away.”

“The emergency patient is the well–known top actress Kaelyn Reed. She was in shock upon arrival. According to her assistant, there was a live creature, twenty inches long, moving inside her abdominal cavity. The situation is critical. Due to her special status, the hospital has assembled the Multi–Disciplinary Team for urgent intervention.”
