My Reborn Admirer Wins Over My Heart (Oriana) novel Chapter 238

**TITLE: He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen 238**
**Chapter 238 Fire Beneath the Calm**

Her entire being felt aflame, her eyes squeezed shut as if she were invoking some ancient incantation, desperate to shield her heart from the truth she had just uttered.

“Forget what I just said, Micah. You didn’t hear that, okay? You didn’t hear anything at all!”

Micah found himself momentarily at a loss for words. The way she scrambled to cover her embarrassment was simply too endearing to ignore.

He reached out, gently coaxing her hands down, his fingers wrapping around her delicate wrists. The heat radiating from her skin was unmistakable, a telltale sign of her flustered state.

Leaning in, he pressed a soft kiss to the inside of her wrist, right where her pulse throbbed the strongest, feeling the rhythm of her heart beneath his lips.

His voice emerged rough and unexpected, an alluring rasp that sent shivers down her spine. “Are you hungry?”

“Huh?” The single syllable escaped her lips, a mix of surprise and confusion.

With a playful nudge, Micah used his nose to gently pry open her tightly clenched fist, revealing her dainty fingers.

His lips brushed teasingly across her fingertips, slow and deliberate, igniting a spark of anticipation in the air between them.

“There’s strawberry Basque cheesecake on the nightstand. From that delightful farm we visited,” he added, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes.

Oriana blinked in surprise, then turned to flick on the bedside lamp. Sure enough, there it was—the cake, a tempting sight in the soft glow of the light.

“When did you get that?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

“I figured… if you turned me down or got shy and ran off, you might get hungry. So, I left it here just in case,” he replied, a charming smile gracing his lips.

Oriana stared at him, momentarily speechless. Could he possibly be more thoughtful than this?

“Well, since I said yes to your proposal, I guess the cake’s unnecessary now…” she mused, a teasing lilt to her voice.

“Still useful. Like right now,” he countered, his laughter low and inviting, a sound that sent her heart racing.

She swallowed hard, her stomach betraying her. She really was a little hungry.

With a small scoop, she took a bite of the cheesecake. The creamy texture melted in her mouth, the sweetness washing over her like a gentle tide, soothing the lingering tension that had settled in her body.

She glanced at Micah, a playful smile lighting up her face. “Want a bite?”

Micah shook his head, his expression earnest. “No, you go ahead. I’m not hungry.”

Oriana frowned slightly, a hint of disappointment creeping in. “Okay,” she replied, but the taste of the cake was too good to resist.

The Basque cheesecake was exquisite, the strawberry flavor perfectly balanced, a symphony of sweetness that danced on her palate. Before she knew it, she had polished off the entire slice, completely absorbed in the moment. Next to the plate, a glass of lemon water sat, thoughtfully placed.

Throughout her indulgence, Micah remained close behind her, occasionally leaning in to press soft kisses against her hair or cheek, his presence a comforting weight that enveloped her.

When she finally set the glass down, Micah inquired, “You full?”

“Pretty much. That Basque cake’s heavier than it looks,” she admitted, a satisfied smile playing on her lips.

Micah’s expression shifted slightly, a hint of regret flickering in his eyes. “Sorry, I didn’t control myself last night.”

“I’ll be fine after a bit. You… you were the one who worked hard last night. You should rest!” she insisted, her cheeks flushing as she avoided his gaze.

As the soreness began to fade, Oriana couldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes. She kicked off the blanket and dashed into the bathroom, desperate to regain her composure.

What she didn’t realize was that the man still lounging in bed didn’t look the least bit fatigued. In fact, he appeared thoroughly satisfied, recharged and ready for whatever came next.

By the time Oriana arrived at the hospital, Lily was already there, her enthusiasm palpable.

Her leg had healed remarkably well. She jogged over, arms wide open for a big hug, but suddenly halted, narrowing her eyes in suspicion as she scrutinized Oriana’s neck.

“Weird… it’s so cold, and there are still mosquitoes?” she remarked, a quizzical look on her face.

Oriana quickly covered her neck with her hand, panic rising within her. But then Lily gasped again, her eyes widening in delight. “Oh my gosh, is that a wedding ring? It’s gorgeous!”

Oriana glanced down at the ring, a smile spreading across her face before she even realized it. “Thanks.”

Lily leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Hehe… okay, so it’s not a bug bite. It’s a love bite—”

Oriana was left utterly speechless, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

The two were still giggling when Cormac emerged from the office, Leo trailing closely behind him.

Their eyes met by chance, and Cormac was about to walk past, but suddenly halted, a frown knitting his brow as he regarded her.
