As they reached the parking lot, they saw a female doctor in a white coat rushing nervously towards the elevators.

She seemed to notice the group, her eyes flicking up for a brief glance before she lowered her head and hurried into an elevator.

Micah, looking straight ahead, naturally noticed nothing.

But Kieran, walking beside him, paused instinctively and glanced back.

The elevator doors had already closed.

Kieran frowned, muttering under his breath, “Sir, that woman just now… she looked a bit like Mrs. Caldwell.”

Micah wasn’t concerned. “She’s at the Jindiwood University library.”

Besides, if it were her, he would have known.

“You’re right.”

Kieran rubbed the back of his head, smiling awkwardly, “My eyes must be playing tricks on

me.”

“Let’s go.”

“Yes, Sir.”

The Maybach pulled away smoothly from the hospital.

The parking lot returned to silence.

A figure in white emerged from a shadowy corner, then turned and left.

rest.

The three of them left the library and found a popular chain dessert cafe in Jindiwood.

“Before, when it was just me and Oriana, we could only order two things and had to skip others,” Zara declared. “But now, with Lily here, I can confidently order four!”

Lily looked puzzled. “Shouldn’t it be three?”

Zara winked playfully, wagging a slender finger. “The portions aren’t huge! We can just share the fourth one, one bite each.”

lit up with understanding. “Oh, you’re right! That’s perfect!”

Her expression fell slightly. “It’s a shame you have to go back to Seabar in a couple of days, Zara…”

“Let’s enjoy the moment! We’ll eat first today. Don’t worry. I will be back before you know it!” Zara laughed heartily.

Oriana, having chosen her pistachio basque cake, handed the menu over. “What time’s your flight? I’ll see you off.”

“Afternoon on the ninth. Won’t you be back at work by then?” Zara glanced at her.

Oriana shook her head. “Not sure yet. I’ll find out when I go back to the hospital tomorrow.”

“Doesn’t matter! Between us, who’s counting? I know the airport like the back of my hand. I’ll be fine on my own.”

During those years when Oriana was busy helping Grant build his company, Zara, with little to do, she had spent her free time traveling all over, basically checking off every major and minor airport, domestic and international.

Lily’s eyes shone with admiration. “You’ve been to so many places, Zara! That’s amazing. My brother never lets me go out…”

Zara hooked an arm around hers. “Next time you’re free, come find me! I’ll take you out to play.”

“But… but my brother will scold me.”

“Is he that strict?”

Zara laughed even more boldly, “Money is the last thing to worry about! With me, and this rich lady here,” she jerked a thumb towards Oriana, “you just need to bring yourself. We can go anywhere!”

Just then, the waiter brought Oriana’s pistachio basque. Oriana reached over, gently separating them. “Don’t corrupt Lily. Hurry up and cat.”

“What’s the rush? Trying to get home early?” Zara eyed her sideways. “You promised to have dinner with us today.”

“I know,” Oriana said matter–of–factly. “The sooner we finish afternoon tea, the sooner we can have dinner.”

“Oho! After all these days glued together, can’t stand a few hours apart?”

Oriana handled the teasing with grace. “Exactly. I start getting busy tomorrow. I’d like to make some time for him tonight.”

“Hmph!” Zara sniffed, feigning deep hurt. “So you love him more than me.”

Oriana couldn’t help but laugh, scooping a bite of her cake and stuffing it into Zara’s mouth. “I love you both. Now eat.”

“Hmph! So perfunctory!” Zara made a show of chewing grumpily.

Lily watched from the side, her eyes crinkled into happy crescents as she giggled.

Just then, a notification chimed on Lily’s phone. It was a text from Ethan asking what she was up to. After a brief exchange, a money transfer from him followed shortly after.

Lily looked up from her screen. “Oriana, Ethan sent you a gift. Should I transfer it to your PayPal?”

The two cake–feeders paused their activity. Zara narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “Ethan is sending Oriana money? Does he have a crush on her or something?”

That nearly sent Lily into a panic. “No, no! Ethan knows Oriana is married! It’s about that time at the hospital before. He never found the right chance to properly thank her.”
