His mind was so scrambled, so utterly addled, that he blurted out a nonsense response 3.1 don’t remember either.”
Zara crooked a finger, beckoning him closer. Her gaze drifted downward, sesling on his lower lip. Her little canine teeth peeked out, giving her a mischievous look–like a linde devil tempting him into trouble.
“Want to… find out again?”
Kenny swallowed hard, his throat dry. “I–I guess we could.”
A triumphant smile curved Zara’s lips. “You said it.”
As she rose onto her toes and leaned in, Kenny’s entire body went rigid. He didn’t know what to do with his hands or his feet.
“You… you go ahead.”
The moment the words left his mouth, his lower lip was captured between two sharp little
canines.
Kenny’s mind turned into complete mush. He was pushed back against the sink counter, utterly at Zara’s mercy.
He couldn’t think. His entire body was burning up, his heart pounding wildly against his ribs.
Only one thought remained: She’s so soft and sweet.
Time seemed to stand still. Kenny felt weightless, floating higher and higher….
He didn’t know how much time passed…
When consciousness returned, his eyelids fluttered open to a field of white.
He stared blankly at his surroundings, then suddenly bolted upright.
“Ouch!”
A tight, throbbing pain pulsed at the back of his head.
“You’re finally awake.”
Zara’s voice came from the foot of the bed. She was sitting cross–legged, giving him an exasperated look. “And I completely missed my movie.”

Kenny was bewildered. “Why am I here? Is this… hospital?”
“You have the nerve to ask.”

Zara gave him a look of pure, unadulterated disdain. “A man passing out from a kiss? That’s a first for me, Kenny. Could you possibly top that
“You’re saying I… passed out from a kiss?” It sounded like the most absurd fairytale. “Ha! Don’t try to fool me!”
“Patient in Bed 3, Kenny Caldwell.”
A nurse, hearing the commotion, walked in and checked his vitals. “You’re fine. You can go home. Remember to breathe properly next time you kiss someone, and try not to get too tense. Otherwise, you might experience acute hypoxia again.”
Zara pursed her lips, spread her hands, and shrugged at him. “Told you so.”
Kenny yanked the covers over his head, burying himself completely, feeling like all hope in life was gone!
Zara patted the lump under the blanket, unable to hold back her amusement. “Aw, don’t be shy. You’ll get used to it after a few more tries. Practice makes perfect!”
“Zara, shut up!” came Kenny’s muffled roar from within the trembling blanket mound. “I’m never kissing you randomly again!”
Zara burst out laughing.
This idiot can be pretty fun sometimes!
Separated for days, the couple reunited with a hunger and tenderness that surpassed even their usual passion. Micah claimed the kiss he’d been craving, thoroughly, that evening.
Worried about his injury, Oriana willingly became his living pillow, curled in his embrace. He cradled her face, his lips tracing a path from the corner of her mouth to the outer edge of her eye, lingering at her brow before finally returning, claiming her lips fully. All Oriana could feel was a scalding, desperate intensity from him unlike anything before.
But a sliver of reason held. “No… you’re hurt,” she whispered, breathless.
Having restrained himself for too long, Micah’s control was fraying. “Sweetheart, I’ll be gentle,” he pleaded, voice rough.
“No,” Oriana insisted firmly.

Yet, meeting his fevered, red–rimmed gaze, she relented. She looped her arms around his neck and murmured a quiet promise close to his ear.
Micah’s tense expression softened instantly. “Truly?”
Oriana buried her burning face against him. “We’ll discuss it when we’re home!”
“Alright. I’ll obey my wife.”
He sealed the promise with one last, deep, savoring kiss before gathering her tightly against him, their forms merging into one.

Early the next morning, warm and drowsy under the covers, Oriana faintly heard a voice, deliberately hushed, beside her.
“Bring her here.”
She stirred, opening her eyes slowly and extending a hand from the warmth of the duvet.
Sensing her movement, Micah immediately leaned down. His voice, now a gentle whisper, held none of the icy command of moments before.
“Did I wake you?”
Oriana shook her head. “Did you find the person who posted the photos?”
“Yes.”
Micah’s reply was simple. “We traced the IP address. The poster is right here in Sunrise Village.
“Lottie Garcia. One of the doctors on your volunteer team.”
