Chapter 547 The Unspoken Night
However…
“Chubby, isn’t your dad done yet?”
Chubby’s screen displayed a little rolling animation. “Daddy is still working hard!”
“Alright then.”
It must be a particularly tricky problem. Oriana knew she couldn’t help and didn’t want to distract him. She searched online for a simple tutorial on making creamy pasta, found one that looked manageable, and headed into the kitchen to do battle.
Half an hour later, Oriana emerged with a bowl of passable–looking creamy pasta and approached Micah’s door again. She placed the bowl and fork on the small serving cart positioned against the inside of the door, so it wouldn’t get knocked over when opened.
She knocked. “Micah, I made you some creamy pasta. They’re right outside the door. Have some when you get a chance.”
An acknowledging sound came from within.
Oriana waited a moment, but there was no further movement from Micah. With a soft sigh, she turned and went back to her own room.
The next morning, Oriana’s alarm woke her. The space beside her in bed was empty and cold, indicating he hadn’t come to bed all night.
A frown creasing her brow, Oriana opened her door and glanced across the hall. Seeing the bowl was gone from the cart, she felt a slight relief. At least he had eaten something.
Time was tight. While getting ready, she instructed Chubby to wake Micah up on time and remind him to eat. Chubby obediently agreed to each task.
“I’m leaving, Chubby. Your dad is in your care.”
Before heading out, Oriana gently tapped Chubby’s ‘nose.”
Chubby waved a little wing. “Oriana, go do your work! Daddy is Chubby’s responsibility. now!”
Oriana gave a small smile. Kieran was already waiting at the elevator. She nodded a greeting and stepped in.
In the reflective elevator wall. Oriana noticed Kieran didn’t look great either. “Kieran, didn’t

Kieran immediately straightened his posture. The word ‘either‘ was quite telling.
“Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Caldwell. I actually slept quite well last night. Just ate a bit too much, poor digestion, haha.” Oriana glanced again at the dark circles under his eyes, seeing through it but not calling him out. “Any work scheduled for Micah today? Maybe he should rest.”
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Caldwell. Sir has no work commitments today.”
Hearing this, Oriana felt more at ease and nodded. “Good.”
They didn’t speak much more. Kieran safely delivered Oriana to the hospital, then gestured towards two men in casual attire waiting in the parking lot. “They’re assigned for your protection, ma’am. Call on them if needed.”
Oriana got a look at their faces. “Alright.”
After getting out, the two men automatically fell into step on either side of Oriana, maintaining a discreet distance. Seeing they wouldn’t intrude or disrupt her routine, Oriana paid them no further mind.
After changing into her scrubs in the locker room, she threw herself into her work. In her absence, the paper had progressed. Leo gave her the meeting notes from the past few days so she could catch up quickly.
Looking at the meticulously detailed notes in the folder, Oriana accepted it with sincere gratitude. “Thank you. This is really important.”
Hearing her serious tone, Leo seemed almost flustered, then smiled. “It’s nothing. Glad to help.”
