**Chapter 78: A Wolf in Professor’s Clothing**
“So, does that mean Micah is very popular at his workplace?” Oriana asked, her curiosity piqued.
Finished.
Popular? Kieran mused, a sardonic smile tugging at his lips. If being the cause of widespread frustration, annoyance, and resentment could be classified as popularity, then yes, Micah was indeed a superstar in that regard.
“Ahem, Mr. Caldwell is indeed highly respected,” Kieran replied, his tone measured and diplomatic, though he could feel the weight of his words.
Oriana contemplated this, her mind painting an even more impressive picture of Micah. She could almost see him, commanding respect and admiration, a figure of authority in his realm.
Not wanting to linger on the trivialities of conversation, she swiftly made her way to the elevator, her heart racing with anticipation. The private room awaited her, a space she hoped would be filled with warmth and familiarity.
As she stepped inside, a server knocked gently and ushered her in. To her surprise, she had expected to see only Bramwell—or perhaps Luna—but the presence of an outsider caught her off guard.
Upon entering, Oriana’s gaze landed on Luna, whose face was a canvas of palpable jealousy and barely contained hatred.
This insufferable girl! How dare she flaunt those roses Grant sent her right in front of me! Oriana, you must be so proud of yourself, using your charms to ensnare Grant, making him plead for your forgiveness while completely disregarding me! Just wait, your time will come, and soon you’ll be the one shedding tears!
Luna clenched her jaw, lowering her face in an attempt to mask her venomous expression, but Oriana could feel the animosity radiating from her.
“Sorry, the traffic was terrible,” Oriana said, attempting to defuse the tension.
Bramwell, who had been all smiles just moments before, turned to her, and in an instant, his demeanor shifted to one of cold detachment. “Mr. Gallagher also came from Jindiwood University Medical College. How is it that he arrived before you? What a lack of manners. Apologize to Mr. Gallagher at once.”
Oriana’s heart sank. Suddenly, the balding middle-aged man seated next to Bramwell became familiar. It was Professor Felix Gallagher, the very same professor she had encountered briefly in the dentistry department office that afternoon. She had approached him, only to have him politely decline her request.
Felix sipped his wine, his gaze assessing Oriana’s fresh, unpretentious beauty. A smile spread across his face as he said, “It’s quite alright, Mr. Sterling, no need for such formality. In fact, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Sterling this afternoon.”
“Oh? Mr. Gallagher has met my adopted daughter? What a coincidence,” Bramwell replied, his scowl deepening as he directed his focus back to Oriana. “What are you still doing standing there? Sit down.”
The lavish dining table was set for only four, with the lone empty chair positioned next to Felix.
With a swift motion, Oriana’s hands clenched into tight fists. In a sudden burst of defiance, she swung her arm upward, slapping the glass from Felix’s hand and shoving him away in one fluid motion.
The atmosphere shifted dramatically. Bramwell leaped to his feet, his voice booming with outrage. “Oriana! What are you doing?!”
Ignoring his fury, Oriana stepped forward, her heart pounding with adrenaline. She seized the tablecloth and yanked it with all her strength.
In an instant, the entire array of exquisite dishes crashed to the floor, the sound of shattering porcelain and splattered food creating a chaotic symphony of destruction.
Luna shrieked, retreating behind Bramwell, her eyes wide with fear of the flying debris.
Felix, now mostly sober from the shock, scrambled away in terror.
Bramwell’s eyes bulged with disbelief, his face turning a shade of crimson. “You… you lost your temper!”
“Ha! Not nearly as mad as you, Mr. Sterling!” Oriana shot back, her voice laced with cold laughter as she pointed at the cowering Felix. “You’ve worked with him for years. Don’t you know exactly what he is? A drunkard, a womanizer, a gambler! He’s been shuffled between colleges due to his shady conduct, preying on female students! If it weren’t for his uncle’s influence, he wouldn’t even qualify to remain at Jindiwood University!”
