**TITLE: He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
William scrolled through the calendar on his phone, his brow furrowing as he noted the upcoming dates. “The MDT intensive training is set to kick off next weekend,” he stated, his tone matter-of-fact. “I’ll quiz you on the basics the day before it starts. Are you prepared for that challenge?”
Before Oriana could voice her thoughts, Lily interjected with a gasp, “That’s less than ten days away! Mr. Harris, don’t you think that’s a bit too demanding?”
William shot her a look, his expression shifting to one of irritation. “How is it too demanding?” he retorted, his voice edged with disbelief. “She has a cheat. If she can’t grasp the material even with that advantage, then what makes her worthy of being my student?”
Cheat?
Oriana’s mind raced at the mention of the word. What on earth could he mean by that?
Noticing the bewilderment etched across Oriana’s face, William’s incredulity deepened. “That kid didn’t inform you?” he asked, disbelief lacing his words.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Oriana hesitantly ventured, “The ‘kid’ you’re referring to… is it Micah?”
William let out a dismissive huff, “Who else could it possibly be?” His annoyance simmered beneath the surface; if it weren’t for Micah, he would still be wrapped up in his cozy bed, blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding. He had been dragged out of his peaceful slumber to come here, only to find himself having to protect someone. But deep down, William felt a wave of relief that he had arrived just in time.
However, the moment was fleeting. William’s demeanor shifted dramatically as seriousness washed over him, his playful facade vanishing in an instant. “You just waltzed into their territory unarmed, without any backup? Let me pose a question: if I hadn’t shown up when I did, and that thing in his hand had actually come down, what would you have done?”
Oriana blinked, her mind racing. “Well… I probably could have dodged it?”
What was she even saying?
“Mr. Harris, really, you don’t need to worry about me. My reflexes are quite sharp,” she declared, a hint of bravado coloring her voice.
William gazed at the bright-eyed, seemingly innocent young woman before him, and a heavy sense of despair settled in his chest. How had Micah managed to ensnare such a naive girl into marrying him?
With an exasperated sigh, William slouched back into his rocking chair, allowing himself a few slow, calming swings. “You both look exhausted today. Head home early. And remember, my test is looming. If you don’t pass, I won’t be taking you to the MDT,” he warned, his tone firm.
Oriana felt a surge of determination. “Alright, I’ll do my best.” She resolved to return home and confront Micah about this so-called ‘cheat’ that had William so riled up.
Lily, meanwhile, accepted the medicinal wine William had offered her, but Oriana, still filled with concern, insisted on escorting her home.
“Oh, Oriana, really, it’s not necessary. I live just around the corner, not far at all,” Lily protested lightly.
Oriana raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You don’t stay in the dorms?”
Grant’s smile faltered, his expression faltering as Alaric fumbled to hide the bouquet, but its size made it nearly impossible to conceal.
“Oriana, you’ve got it all wrong,” Grant stammered, his voice rising slightly in urgency. “Luna and I aren’t what you think we are.”
Lily, unaware of the history between Oriana and Grant, immediately sensed the tension. She stepped in protectively, pulling Oriana back a few paces. “What do you want? Can’t you be satisfied with your own life without eyeing someone else’s? Let me remind you, Oriana is already married! And very happily so!”
Grant’s eyes widened, the shock evident on his face. “You’ve introduced him to others?” he blurted out, unable to contain his surprise.
The last remnants of a smile vanished from Grant’s face, replaced by a grim realization. She couldn’t possibly have announced Micah’s name so publicly! He recalled how, during their university days, Oriana had never once introduced him to her classmates, believing she was sparing him from social obligations. Now, it seemed…
A bitter mockery flickered in Grant’s eyes.
Oriana, sensing his thoughts, couldn’t help but retaliate with a cold laugh. “My legal husband. Is there a problem with that? Grant Holloway, don’t look at me as if I’ve wronged you. You’re hardly a prize yourself.”
Grant pressed his lips into a thin, tight line, his handsome features hardening into a cold mask.
Alaric, still anxious to clarify, interjected, “It’s truly a misunderstanding, Oriana. If you’re saying Grant broke his promise to sever ties with Luna, then yes, he did fail in that regard. But this time, it’s genuinely a matter of life and death, a reason that compelled him to break his word…”
