**TITLE: He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 95: A Network of Influence**
He had initially thought the three men seated in the private room were senior colleagues from Luna’s department. With the intention of hosting a dinner, he had envisioned a pleasant evening where he could ask these men to look after Luna, considering it a favor they would gladly repay.
However, as he stepped into the room, his heart sank. There, among the trio, sat Oscar Harrison, the brilliant Ph.D. in engineering who had recently returned from Deretty Tech. Grant had been trying to recruit him for his team, and seeing him here was both unexpected and unsettling.
Alaric, standing beside him, wore a look of sheer disbelief. “Dr. Harrison? What brings you here? Are you… a friend of Grant’s girlfriend?” His tone was smooth, seamlessly integrating the words as if he had rehearsed them.
Grant felt a surge of annoyance at Alaric’s casual mention of Luna as “Grant’s girlfriend.” He shot a quick glance at Alaric but chose not to interject.
Oscar responded with a nod, his demeanor calm. “Yes, Luna recommended your team to me, which is why I agreed to meet.”
Alaric’s eyes widened in surprise. “So that’s it!” he exclaimed, the realization dawning on him.
Luna, her arm linked with Grant’s, beamed with pride. “Oscar is my friend,” she declared, her voice filled with warmth. “And let me introduce you to the others. This is Ethan Martinez, the Vice Manager for South Ocean–Antarelia, part of a top-tier luxury group. And the other is Arthur Pendragon, the manager and head chef of the renowned restaurant, Refe.”
She paused for dramatic effect, her eyes sparkling as she continued. “Oh, and there’s also Kai Sullivan. Yes, the very one you’re thinking of!”
As Luna introduced her friends, her expression radiated joy, as if she were unveiling her family’s achievements to the world.
Grant was once again hit by a wave of surprise, taking a moment to collect himself.
Alaric gasped, “Vice Manager for South Ocean–Antarelia? The manager of a restaurant that’s on the Black Pearl list, requiring reservations two months in advance and costing five thousand per person? And Kai? The former boy band star turned leading man in every hit drama?”
Luna blinked playfully, a mischievous smile on her lips. “That’s him! But he’s currently on a flight, so he might not make it tonight.”
Ethan stood up, eager to contribute. “He couldn’t be here, but he asked me to bring a meeting gift.” With that, he presented an exquisite gift bag, his pride evident.
Luna’s eyes lit up as she opened it. “Ahhh! Is this the grey one I’ve been searching for? It’s always out of stock! Thank you, Ethan! Thank you, Kai!”
“You’re welcome! Just let me know what you want next time, and I’ll get it for you directly,” Ethan replied, a hint of playfulness in his tone.
Luna chuckled, her confidence shining through. “Hehe, then I won’t stand on ceremony!” she declared, a glimmer of satisfaction in her eyes. After all, Niall had saved their lives, and without him, where would they be today?
The term “future brother-in-law” made Grant’s expression falter for a brief moment, his thoughts momentarily disrupted.
Luna was the guest of honor that evening. Leo had taken her outside to order the dishes, and when they returned, he pulled her aside, a hesitant expression crossing his face.
Luna immediately sensed Leo’s discomfort, and the warm smile she had been wearing began to fade, replaced by a hint of vulnerability.
“Leo, I’m so sorry… Today must have been disappointing for you…” Her voice was laced with sincerity. “I truly feel responsible for what happened with James. If I had intervened sooner, the professor wouldn’t have faced embarrassment, and James wouldn’t have been punished.”
Her expression was earnest, her words reflecting a genuine acknowledgment of her misstep.
But Leo saw it differently. He had always believed that actions spoke louder than words. He preferred to judge a person by what they did rather than what they said.
Luna’s apology was heartfelt, her demeanor flawless, but he couldn’t shake the feeling of doubt.
From the very beginning, even when James had been hurt and bleeding at the hands of Oriana, she hadn’t stepped in to help or defend him. Instead, she had remained in the corner, silent and passive, allowing James to bear the brunt of the blame alone.
