My Secret Husband Is My Cold Boss novel Chapter 35

Even on their days off, doctors still had to come into the hospital for morning rounds.

Yesterday, six patients had been transferred out of the ICU in a row, so Sampson's rounds took a bit longer than usual.

When he walked out of the ward, a nurse informed him someone was waiting in his office.

It was Simon.

When Sampson walked in, Simon was sprawled over the desk, playing a mobile game with the volume cranked to the max.

"Get off the desk and mute your phone." Sampson walked over and swatted Simon's thigh with a medical folder.

"What do you want?"

"Can't I just visit you for fun?" Simon glanced shiftily toward the door.

He looked incredibly suspicious.

"My aunt said your new wife works at this hospital. I just took a lap outside and didn't see my fairy-tale sister-in-law anywhere."

"Where is she? I need to put a face to the name."

Sampson had zero intention of satisfying his curiosity.

Simon dramatically whined, "Come on, I actually have real business here. My aunt told me to drop off some food for Wendy. I need to report back to her."

Sampson gave him a flat look. "Leave the food on the desk. I'll pass it on for you."

Clearly, he wasn't going to get to see her.

Simon immediately gave up. "Alright, so what are your plans for today?"

"Depends." Sampson didn't specify if he was busy or not.

His phone hadn't buzzed. After changing into his coat, he pulled it out to check, confirming there were no unread messages.

Then, he closed the office door.

"Don't give me 'depends'," Simon chased after him, relentless.

"There's a race at Golden Port Circuit this afternoon. If you're free, let's go head-to-head."

The two cousins were total opposites—one hyperactive, the other completely reserved.

Their only shared interest was racing.

Sampson was an incredible driver. Showing up to the track with him guaranteed Simon would look cool.

He had been waiting for a chance to show off for ages.

Simon stared at him with pleading eyes.

Sampson stepped into the elevator, staring straight ahead.

As they reached the ground floor, his phone pinged.

Wendy had finally replied to the message he sent half an hour ago.

Sampson: [I have the day off. Do you want to go look at the houses together?]

Wendy: [Sure. Are you at the hospital?]

Sampson: [Yes. Meet me in the parking lot.]
