Chapter 158
Chloe’s POV
After breakfast that morning, I left Axel with the Moonflame family to take a walk by myself.
It was not that I wanted to be away from my mate but I was looking for how to draw out the person who had been watching me all morning.
When I entered the forest, Donatello finally showed himself, stepping out of the shadows he had been
hiding in.
I stopped walking and turned to him. “Is there a problem, Donatello?”
“No, I just happened to be walking this path,” he said and came up beside me. “Where are you headed?”
Randomly, I pointed in a direction and his brow raised. “You are going to the palace so early in the morning? Uninvited?”
I looked over the stretch of the trees. I had not noticed that the palace was coincidentally in that direction.
However, judging by the interest in his eyes, that information would work in my favor.
“I just wanted to discuss a few things with Liam and ask him for a favor,” I said casually, shrugging like I was going to see a friend at a cafe.
“Liam,” he said slowly. “You are on a first name basis with the crown prince.”
“We go way back,” I said, even though I did not know Liam was the prince until recently.
If I were anyone else, Donatello might have thought I was being delusional but he had seen enough over the past few days to know that the royal family gave me very special treatment.
Not only had Liam seeked me out by himself in the dining room that day but Axel had been treated in the royal wing of the hospital with the prince coming to check in every single day.
Though I was sure there was no real heart in it, Queen Noelle had also sent a get-well-soon card and the princess sent a bouquet.
They were likely forced or pressured by the king or the royal court to do so but the fact remained that they did it.
I started walking in that direction and Donatello followed beside me, his eyes shining with greed and malice.
The closer we got to the palace, the more I slowed down, waiting for my second tail to catch up. All of this would fail if she did not ‘accidentally’ bump into us.
The thought had just formed in my mind when Hannah stumbled out from behind some trees. Her eyes widened like she looked surprised to see us.
“A-Alpha Donatello,” she whispered, her cheeks tinting and she pretended like she wanted to go away and not disturb us but he stopped her.
“Hannah, you can join us,” he said, his eyes raking shamelessly over her body like the lecher he was. “I am sure Chloe would not mind.”

If I was suddenly sweet, that would be a dead giveaway. So I simply clicked my tongue and turned away from them.
I also sped up, stomping my feet as I walked like I was irritated.
Hannah could not hide her subtle smirk. “Alpha, my sister might still be upset because of everything that happened recently. I do not want to bother her.”
His hand slipped around her shoulder and squeezed. “Chloe is not so petty that she would hold a grudge like that. She forgave all of the Lunas who had talked rubbish about her in the past, She would definitely forgive you too.’
My fake irritation was quickly transitioning into a real one.
I stopped walking and looked at Hannah over my shoulder. “Hannah, is there a reason you’re following me?”
Hannah gasped, real tears springing to her eyes. “I wasn’t following you. I just heard voices and got curious.”
She turned to Donatello. “You’ve got to believe me.”
Donatello smiled at her. “Of course, I believe you. Chloe, you cannot be so harsh on Hannah-”
“And since when was it your place to scold me?” I spat, turning on him. “I am speaking to my junior sister- in-law. This is not your place to interfere.”
Hannah burst into tears. “I admit it! I was following you! C-Chloe, you are so much smarter than me. I thought that if I stayed around you, I could learn how you do business and make the pack proud as well.”
She reached into her purse and brought out a few bank cards. “Look at all this money. It’s all sitting in my account useless but recently, you took just a little money Axel gave you and made a fortune.”
She put the cards back inside her purse, leaning even more on Donatello.
“I just want to be like my sister and make money so I can stand on my own two feet. I am about to have a child. What would I teach her if she sees me relying on others? You know what? Don’t bother.”
Hannah haphazardly wiped her tears and turned to leave. “I am stupid anyway. What do I know about business? Sorry to bother you.”
All of Hannah’s drama was just leading towards one conclusion.
All this while, Hannah had simply been focused on charming Donatello as a person. Now, she had indicated her interest in business and the fact that she had loose money lying around.
If Donatello was half as greedy and selfish as I thought he was, he would take this chance to kill two birds with one stone.
Secure more money for his shitty investments and have a warm, attractive body to play with.
My finger raised and I pointed at Hannah. “You little-”
“I think that is quite alright, Chloe,” Donatello said, stepping between me and her. “You heard Hannah. She
