Chapter 179
Chloe’s POV
“You must love to hear yourself talk,” I said, choosing not to back down.
I did not do anything wrong. There was no reason to hide and bow my head like I did.
I would rather face the coming battle with a clear conscience. My primary objective now was how to protect Mara from taking the fall for this.
Donatello darted towards me, closing the distance in a split second. “Even while I am standing here, you think! will not harm you. You seriously underestimate the Regali family.”
There it was.
My head tilted. “You are holding a grudge because I refused to invest in your business,” I said like I was stating a fact. “And rather than see sense, you would help convince the world that I am a murderer.”
Donatello straightened his back as he grinned. “I am so glad when I work with the smart types. You know what? For amusing me so much, I will give you a chance to redeem yourself.”
He backed me against the furniture behind me, looking down at me like the pervert he was.
“I have never really been with a woman who is marked so I do not know how this works,” he said, gripping my jaw. “But Chloe, you are too goddamn beautiful to be tied to that bore.”
Seeing that I was not responding, he took it as his cue to continue his nonsense.
“How about this? You let me feel those tits of yours for a start.” His tongue swiped against his lips. “You must understand the position that you are in now. With a word from my family, we can bury this incident under the rug
“Are you
done?” I asked and he froze, a deep frown appearing on his face.
“Excuse me?”
“So you are.”
I grabbed his wrist and snapped it out of place. His eyes widened as he tried to process what had just happened.
I realized that attacking Donatello here might be worse for my situation but I would rather be dragged into the dungeon than give my body away.
“You and I know I did not do anything wrong,” I said, dusting my hand like I was flicking his filth off of me.
He scoffed. “You think anyone is going to care about that once I start to talk? Chloe, Regali is making waves right now in the market. Even your Alpha will think thrice before offending my family.”
“Then I guess I have more guts than I know what to do with,” I retorted, stuffing the pill bottle into my pocket.
As I was about to walk past him, he tried to grab my hand. My wolf retaliated on instinct, embedding my claws into his wrist.
That would be a much harsher wound to fix than dislocation.
“If you touch me again, this will be more than a flesh wound,” I spat, my voice gruff because of my wolf. “Try me.”

I walked downstairs and saw a crowd already gathered. Their eyes instantly zeroed on the blood staining my
ngers but I did not care.
Finger
No matter what, I was going to be the villain in this story. The least I could do was drag everyone involved in it down with me.
Axel found me in our cabin in the forest. He immediately pulled me into a hug, like he was banishing all my foolish thoughts away. “I believe you.”
“Of course, you believe me,” I said with a smile. He looked even more panicked than I was.
“Do you want us to leave the pack for a few days?” Axel asked me. “Go somewhere nice and tropical until everything dies down?”
“Then, they would really say that we are running out of guilt,” I retorted. A cruel smirk lifted to my lips. “If anything, I was thinking of volunteering to take care of my dear sister during her time in the hospital.”
Truly disgust her to be seeing me every single day that she lay there, accusing me with her tears and an innocent child.
That is, if she was truly pregnant to begin with.
“The test results should be out in a few hours,” Axel said. “Don’t worry. It will be-”
“No, her porridge really was drugged,” I said, certain. The test results would come out, carrying the same substance as the pills in the bottle in my jacket.
“Where is Mara? I have been looking for her.”
“Darius had Victor take her out of the pack. She is flying to Moonflame as we speak,” he explained and I nodded.
Even if they would drag her name through the mud, at least she was physically safe.
Besides, I was sure that her birth family would be dragged into this sooner or later, so I wanted her far away from all of their hurtful words.
Axel looked down at my phone and the papers on the floor. “You have been busy.”
I nodded. “I told Liam to expedite the process for the agency. I want Victor and Mara to come out as the representatives of the royal family within a few days at most.”
Then, I would know they were truly safe.
Even if people might feel prejudice against them in their hearts, they would not have the audacity to act on them.
