My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Chloe’s POV

Axel stood in the doorway too long for me to ignore him any longer.

“Is there a reason you’re here?” I asked him, not lifting my eyes from my book. It was already ten and Celestia would be back in my room at four am.

I had to finish this chapter before Luna Diane’s class at ten tomorrow and find a way to get enough sleep and not be half-dead throughout the day.

“You and Celestia seem to be getting along,” he said.

I guess the walls were soundproof. He likely did not hear my conversations with Celestia every morning in the backyard.

“If it seems that way to you,” I muttered, wishing for him to go away and find some other productive way to spend his night.

Silence ensued but he still did not leave. Was there something on my face that he was so content staring

at me?

“The kitchen staff says that you have not been eating regular meals,” he finally said.

He should have just started with that. We would have wrapped this up and had him sent on his way.

“I do not eat my meals in the packhouse-”

“Yes, you eat them in the library.” Before I could settle with the fact that he was monitoring my movements, he added. “Junk and street food that you buy with your money.”

My eyes stuck on a particular word on the page as I turned his sentence over in my head. Was he annoyed that I was wasting money?

“If me holding onto your credit card is a problem, I can return it,” I said begrudgingly, thinking of the lots of other things I wanted to do with his money.

But I was not a beggar or a charity case. If it meant that I would get a proper job to take care of myself,

so be it.

Axel let out a small sigh of irritation. “I do not care about the credit card. I am more concerned about the fact that you are not eating right.”

My head lifted, eyes searching his face. Huh. He did look worried about me but why?

“How does my eating concern you?” Something suddenly occurred to mind. “If you are worried about me adding weight, do not worry. I have always had a fast metabolism.”

“Chloe, you are not eating or sleeping properly. No matter how used to stress that you think you are, this is unhealthy-”

“And why do you think I am not sleeping properly, Axel?” I asked him, getting to my feet.

The words were no longer making sense. I would have to wake up at two am to continue reading.

Axel already sensed where the conversation was going. “Celestia has already explained that dawn is the time most convenient for her.”

“Of course, I have agreed to the fact that a time in the morning where anyone can barely see six feet ahead of them is the time most convenient to practice walking.”

A tight smile slipped onto my face. “You do not see me complaining about that, do you? If anything, I have tried to figure out a schedule that works best for my affairs and Miss Crane’s schedule so if you would excuse me, I would like to get to sleep.”

Axel’s hard expression cracked. He uncrossed his arms and stepped deeper into the room. “Chloe, that was not what I meant.”
