The Langford Group, CEO's Office.
Christian Chase stood before Lucian, his expression shifting from sheer disbelief to absolute elation.
"Boss, we secured The Riverside Parcel for $320 million—that's a full $30 million under our initial budget!"
Lucian nodded, his expression completely unbothered.
It was exactly as he had anticipated.
"And the Eastside Plot?"
"The Sullivan Group took it for $2.25 billion. They overpaid the market value by hundreds of millions," Christian said, unable to suppress a grin. "Sebastian was so convinced we were in a bidding war with him that he just kept blindly jacking up the price. We weren't even in the race..."
The corner of Lucian's mouth ticked upward.
He had seen this exact outcome coming three days ago.
Still, it was incredibly satisfying to watch it play out.
"Alright, I've got it. Follow up on the paperwork and finalize the transition," Lucian instructed.
"Right away, Boss." Christian sensibly excused himself from the room.
Lucian picked up his phone and texted Seraphina: "Secured the Riverside property. $320 million."
The reply came through almost instantly.
Seraphina: "Congratulations, Boss!"
She followed it up with a cute, celebratory sticker.
Staring at the little cartoon on his screen, Lucian found it impossible to wipe the smile off his face.
He typed back: "What do you want for dinner? My treat."
Seraphina: "How about we go out to a nice steakhouse? I know a great one."
Perhaps it was the pregnancy, but she had been getting random cravings lately.
Lucian paused for a second, then chuckled softly.
"Sounds perfect."
...
The Langford Estate.
Staring at the word "perfect" on her screen, Seraphina felt her heart flutter just a little faster than usual.
Little Bean did a happy roll in her stomach. "Mommy! Are you going on another date with Daddy?"
"We're just grabbing dinner," Seraphina protested verbally, though a flutter of anticipation was already blooming in her chest.
