Seraphina felt a helpless wave of amusement. She gently patted his back and whispered, "Almost done. Just hold on a little longer."
Eleanor noticed the baby's restless reaction as well and smiled warmly at the crowd. "The little one is getting tired, so I'll have him taken upstairs to rest. Please, everyone, enjoy the food and drinks. Let's celebrate to the fullest today!"
The room erupted into another wave of laughter and enthusiastic applause.
Seraphina carried Little Bean off the stage, and Lucian immediately stepped forward to take the baby from her arms.
"I'll walk you both upstairs," he said.
Seraphina nodded and followed him back to the second floor.
Once they were safely back in the quiet room, Seraphina finally let out a long breath.
"That was so many people." She collapsed onto the sofa, massaging her stiff shoulders.
Lucian placed Little Bean into the crib, then turned back to look at her. "You've worked hard."
"I'm fine."
Seraphina shook her head, hesitating for a moment before she finally spoke up.
"I saw Landon downstairs earlier. He arrived with Howard Monroe."
Lucian's expression didn't change in the slightest. "I know."
"You're not worried?"
Lucian reached out and pulled her into his arms. "Worried about what? Howard isn't an idiot. He's not going to blindly throw his resources behind Landon just because his daughter might be dating him."
"But..."
"Howard came today out of respect for Grandma Eleanor, not for Landon."
Lucian's tone was incredibly calm. "Besides, whether Landon and Melody's relationship is real or fake is hard to say."
Seraphina froze for a second. "You mean... they might just be putting on an act?"
Lucian didn't give a direct answer, simply offering a word of advice: "In our circle, what you see isn't always the truth, and what you hear isn't always a lie."
Seraphina was silent for a few seconds before she slowly nodded.
Regardless of whether it was true or not, as long as she focused on playing her part perfectly, that was enough.
