My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 406

Melody hurriedly interjected, "Evie, your clothes are soaking wet. Even if you have to stand there as punishment, it shouldn't be right now. You'll catch a cold."

A bitter wave of sorrow washed over Evie as she turned to look at Lucian.

An outsider knew to care about her health, while her own family only cared about punishing her.

The contrast was absolutely chilling.

Lucian's attention was entirely focused on Seraphina, completely oblivious to his sister's hurt gaze.

"Are you cold?"

Seraphina shook her head.

Little Bean chimed in mentally: "Alright, alright, I get it, you two are very much in love. But could someone please fish my Duckie Ball out of the pond?! It's still floating all alone in the water! It's freezing out there!"

Seeing that no one in her family was paying her any attention, Evie stormed off angrily toward the study.

As she brushed past Seraphina, Seraphina leaned in and murmured at a volume only the two of them could hear: "Think about who really caused you to be punished today. Was it really me?"

Evie's footsteps hitched.

She didn't turn around, but she clenched her jaw and continued walking.

Safely tucked in Eleanor's arms, Little Bean observed the exchange.

"The hook Mommy just planted... absolutely brilliant."

"It's like fishing. The line is cast, and even if the fish doesn't bite immediately, it won't be able to stop swimming around the bait."

He nodded in profound satisfaction.

Though, given his limited motor skills, the solemn nod looked more like he was dozing off.

"Yep, that's my brilliant Mommy for you."

Then, a horrific realization dawned on him.

"Wait a minute... where is my ball?"

"Did nobody fish it out yet?! Is anyone going to take care of my ball?! That was a limited edition! Okay, Susan bought it at the farmer's market, but it has immense sentimental value to me!"

Seraphina smiled silently in her mind. "I'll buy you ten new ones later."

Little Bean huffed indignantly. "That one had little duckies on it. It was completely unique. Ten new ones could never replace it."

He paused.
