Lucian waved her over. "Come here."
Seraphina stepped closer.
"What?"
Lucian straightened her collar and, catching her off guard, planted a kiss on her cheek.
"Beautiful."
Her ears turning warm, Seraphina pushed against his shoulder.
"Susan is right there."
Susan turned around holding an empty bowl.
"I didn't see a thing."
Little Bean's inner thoughts bubbled with sweetness.
"Mommy and Daddy are so in love! I'm so happy today!"
Seraphina stuffed the folder into her bag and pushed Lucian's wheelchair toward the door. "Let's go."
The car drove smoothly, soon arriving at the Langford Group's underground parking garage.
Christian stepped out and helped Lucian into his wheelchair.
Seraphina checked her surroundings before telling Lucian, "You head up first."
"You really aren't coming with me?" Lucian asked, watching her.
"It's my first day. I don't want people to see the title of 'Mrs. Langford' before they see me."
"But you are."
"I'm your wife, not a VIP pass to the project division."
Lucian handed his phone to Christian, his gaze still fixed on her.
"If anyone gives you a hard time, come straight up to me."
Seraphina chuckled. "I haven't even walked in yet, and you're already anticipating I'll be treated poorly?"
"Not anticipating. Giving you full authorization."
"Don't worry, Mr. Langford. I'm not the type to tolerate disrespect."
Christian offered a reminder.
"Mrs. Langford, the Innovation & Strategy Division is on the thirty-sixth floor. Mr. Marshall is in today, and I've already given him a heads-up."
Seraphina nodded. "Understood."
Lucian looked at her once more. "Don't push yourself too hard."
Seraphina threw his words from last night right back at him. "Whatever you say."
Right before the executive elevator doors closed, Christian couldn't resist speaking up.
"Mr. Langford, I think Mrs. Langford is going to give the division quite a shock today."
Lucian opened a document file.
"It's about time someone woke them up."
Seraphina stepped into the employee elevator, standing near the back as she checked the digital contract Christian had just sent over.
The elevator stopped on the seventeenth floor. Melody walked in, freezing for a second when she saw Seraphina before offering a smile. "Ms. Simmons. What a coincidence."
"Ms. Monroe."
Melody scanned her tailored suit and the document bag in her hand. "Here for a tour?"
"Here for work."
Melody pressed the button for the thirty-sixth floor. "Work? You always said you wouldn't rely on men, Ms. Simmons. I assumed you actually planned to make it on your own."
