My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 497

Seeing the sweat on Lucian's brow, Seraphina pulled back her half-extended hand and merely pulled the blankets up for him.

"Nothing. Let's get some sleep."

Lucian leaned against the headboard, watching her. "What were you going to say?"

"Nothing, really. I'm just so tired. Let's sleep."

Seraphina's eyelids were drooping heavily.

Lucian recalled the project files Christian had handed him earlier that day. The Innovation & Strategy Division's renewable energy sector desperately needed someone with technical expertise who wouldn't be swayed by office factions.

Seraphina was the perfect candidate.

"Sera, do you want to spend some time at the Langford Group? You can get some hands-on practice with the renewable energy project in the division."

Seraphina heard him speaking, but the words didn't register in her sleep-addled brain.

"Mhm."

"Is that a yes?"

"Mhm."

"You'll start tomorrow?"

"Mhm."

Lucian's eyebrows lifted slightly.

"Mrs. Langford, do you realize what you just agreed to?"

Seraphina pulled the covers over her face.

"I know. Sleep."

Lucian chuckled low in his throat, pulled the blanket down slightly, and kissed her forehead.

"If you agree to things this easily, what happens if I sell you out? Will you help me count the cash?"

Seraphina sleepily swatted his hand away.

"Sleep."

Lucian tucked her arm back beneath the blanket.

"Alright. Sleep."

Little Bean woke up once during the night. When Susan brought him over, Seraphina reached out to take the baby before she even opened her eyes.

Lucian frowned.

"Let Susan give him formula this once. You go back to sleep."

Seraphina settled back against the pillows with the baby in her arms. "It's fine. He wants me."

As Little Bean nursed, his soft inner thoughts bubbled up.

"Thank you for your hard work, Mommy. I'll try to eat less at night from now on."

Seraphina was too exhausted to laugh, simply patting his back gently.

Little Bean continued complaining mentally.

"Daddy, stop staring. Staring won't magically help Mommy feed me."

Lucian picked up the glass of warm water Susan had left on the nightstand. "Drink some water."

Seraphina took a couple of sips. "You should sleep too. You have to go into the office tomorrow."

Lucian set the glass back down. "Yes, ma'am."

At the breakfast table the next morning, Seraphina finished half a bowl of oatmeal before realizing Lucian had been sitting in his wheelchair without moving.

"Aren't you going to work?"

Lucian looked up. "I am. I'm waiting for you."

"Waiting for me? Why?"

"You agreed last night to come to the Langford Group's project division for some practice."

Seraphina's hand holding a napkin froze. "I agreed?"
