If someone was determined to target her, there was no avoiding it.
If it didn't happen today, it would happen tomorrow, so Seraphina wanted to see exactly what they were plotting.
She knew it was risky, but with Lucian here, she trusted he wouldn't let her get hurt.
For some reason, she had absolute faith in him.
She touched her evening clutch, feeling the weight of her own preparation; if things got dangerous, she had a way to defend herself.
The waitress led her through a maze of corridors before finally opening the door to a room.
"Ma'am, this is a private guest room. It's quiet, so you can clean the stain in peace."
Seraphina stepped inside.
A wave of heavy floral fragrance hit her immediately, so thick it was almost suffocating.
Instinctively wrinkling her nose, she scanned the space.
The room was elegantly furnished, the curtains half-drawn, and the lighting dim and suggestive. The air itself felt thick with a sleep-inducing haze.
Seraphina immediately went on high alert.
This was no standard hotel room.
Normal guest suites didn't use such aggressively strong diffusers, nor did they set the ambiance lighting to look like a boudoir.
She began to piece together their intentions.
Pivoting to leave, she realized the door had already clicked shut.
The waitress had slipped away.
Seraphina's heart sank.
It was a trap after all.
Little Bean yelled frantically from her womb. "Mommy! This room is super weird! My head is spinning!"
Seraphina also felt a sudden wave of dizziness wash over her.
The scent was drugged!
She quickly covered her nose and mouth with a handkerchief and rushed back to the door, jiggling the handle.
Locked.
From the outside.
Seraphina forced herself to stay calm.
She pulled out her phone to call Lucian.
The screen lit up, showing zero bars of service.
