Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 134

If you asked Victoria what the most devastating moment of her life was, today would definitely be a top contender.

She could clearly feel the eyes of all her colleagues on her after the limping man's words—gazes filled with contempt and disbelief.

Her face turned white as a sheet. Victoria felt as if the sky was falling.

Stephanie stood to the side, watching coldly.

If Victoria hadn't crossed her line, she wouldn't have done something so ruthless, for the sake of their past friendship.

She could overlook Victoria stealing her man—after all, a man who could be stolen wasn't worth keeping.

But she couldn't tolerate Victoria taking her vulnerability and ripping open her wounds, knowingly letting everyone rub salt in them when she was already in pain.

Victoria had brought all of this upon herself.

Stephanie watched coldly as Victoria collapsed to the floor, sobbing, and no one went to comfort her.

People around them were pointing and whispering.

The glamorous, high-society heiress persona Victoria had built for herself was now just as pathetic as it had once been dazzling.

Even Serena, after seeing Victoria's two poor relatives, backed far away from her.

Serena covered her nose, thinking the two men had a strange, sour smell of sweat on them.

"Victoria, so you were never a high-society heiress after all. No wonder you take the bus to work every day. You can't even afford a luxury car."

Serena was a true snob.

Looking at Victoria now, all she could think was that she had been deceived.

"You actually slept with him? Then how did Mr. Gonzalez even fall for you?"

Serena had hit upon the crucial point.

She suddenly thought of something and gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

The murmurs around her were endless:

"If you're not the heiress, then who is the one engaged to Mr. Gonzalez?"

"Victoria, so you're just the other woman."

"And Victoria was implying Stephanie stole her boyfriend? She's the other woman herself. At most, Stephanie would be the third woman."

"Wait, didn't you guys think the vibe between Mr. Gonzalez and Stephanie was weird on the day of the team-building event? I always felt like there was more to Stephanie than meets the eye..."

"Could the real heiress be... Stephanie?"

"No wonder the people from Verdant Grove Capital said they'd only sign the contract with Stephanie! I thought it was strange at the time. Logically, Victoria is their future daughter-in-law, so why wouldn't they sign with their own person and specifically name Stephanie? It all makes sense now! Victoria's a fake! Stephanie is the real one!"

The limping man and Dave were both pulling at Victoria, trying to drag her away, and the scene descended into chaos.

By the time everyone had pieced together Stephanie's true identity, she was nowhere to be found in the Sapphire Group building.
