Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 135

Zachary, one of the spectators, was also utterly shocked.

Stephanie... was she really the daughter-in-law of Verdant Grove Capital?

Had he really lost such a powerful connection?

He felt like slapping himself hard!

It was over. How had he managed to offend her?

Seeing Stephanie leave, Serena quietly followed her.

She wanted to ask if everyone's speculation was true.

Downstairs from Sapphire Group, Serena saw Stephanie stop and was about to call out to her.

But just as she uttered the first syllable, she saw a handsome man appear in her line of sight.

The man was leaning against a Rolls-Royce Cullinan behind him, his tall frame clad in a black suit. The sunlight enveloped him, tracing the edges of his hair with a golden halo.

He looked to be at least six-foot-one, and even from more than ten meters away, Serena could feel the powerful, overwhelming aura emanating from him.

Serena recognized the car. It was a global limited edition, with only three in existence.

She had gossiped with her friends about it before. The only person in the country who drove this car... was the sole legal heir to Ironhold Investment Group—Jonathan.

He was at the absolute top of the pyramid. Rumor had it his assets were countless, spanning every industry imaginable. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call him the crown prince of all Veridian.

So, was she seeing Jonathan himself, in the flesh?

Her heart pounded with excitement. This trip downstairs was totally worth it.

Then, to Serena's utter astonishment, Jonathan walked to the passenger side, bent down, and personally opened the car door for Stephanie.

What was going on?

Serena's jaw dropped so wide you could fit an egg in it.

Didn't everyone say Stephanie was Quennel's fiancée?

But why was she getting into Jonathan's car?

What was their relationship?

Steven gave her another look. "Fine."

Serena clutched her phone and started counting the long string of zeros in the bank notification.

Her expression was like the cat that got the cream. Her hands trembled with excitement, a greedy smile plastered on her face.

The next second, she heard Steven on the phone. "Hello, 911? There's an extortion attempt in progress here. The amount is substantial. I need you to dispatch officers immediately."

As he spoke, Steven glanced up at the security camera overhead. "The evidence is conclusive, and the suspect is right here in front of me."

Serena froze, dropping her phone in a panic.

"I don't want the money! Take it back!"

Steven said coldly, "Serena, I'm afraid that's not up to you anymore."

"How do you know my name?"

Serena's face filled with terror as she had a sudden realization.

He works for Jonathan? Did Jonathan send him to deal with her? Just because she was rude to Stephanie?
