Who knew when he would finally manage to melt Stephanie’s heart…
…
“Achoo!”
Shaving after a fresh shower, Jonathan suddenly sneezed.
Was the water too cold?
He didn't overthink it and quickly lay down to get some rest.
Meanwhile, the business forum hadn't even officially started, but the venue was already swarming with reporters vying for the best spots, all because these two titans of industry were scheduled to attend.
The reason was a video that had been anonymously leaked online that morning—it showed Quennel carrying Stephanie out of a hotel late last night.
The video clearly captured both of their faces. Stephanie was draped in Quennel’s suit jacket, her head buried in his chest, looking as docile as a lamb.
This sent curious netizens into a frenzy, making them even more intrigued by the trio's tangled relationship.
Wasn’t Stephanie supposed to have broken up with Quennel?
Why were they coming out of a hotel together?
And in such an intimate embrace?
Were they getting back together?
But wasn't she married to Jonathan?
[This woman is playing on another level. She’s got her new man but is keeping her old one on the hook. She wants to have her cake and eat it too.]
[Hey, if she can juggle two top-tier guys at once, that’s her superpower. Look at that fragile, pitiful expression in the photo. If I were a man, I’d melt too.]
[See, people are sentimental creatures. A twenty-year history isn't easy to just forget…]
[This makes me even more excited for the afternoon livestream! Ahh! I wish I could be there to see the showdown between these two guys!]
The internet was buzzing with all sorts of opinions that morning. On his way to the office, Quennel saw the overwhelmingly one-sided commentary on his tablet and a smirk played on his lips.
Public opinion was the true voice of the people.
He casually liked a tweet from a user who commented that he and Stephanie looked perfect together.
Cecilia cursed Quennel under her breath. The man’s tactics were utterly despicable.
But she didn't tell Stephanie, not wanting to upset her with it.
Soon, Steven arrived. “The discharge papers are all sorted, Mrs. Vasquez. When you’re ready, I’ll arrange a car to take you home to rest.”
Stephanie nodded obediently.
Cecilia had to head back to the TV station to prepare for the afternoon broadcast.
Before leaving, she pulled Steven aside. “That video online…”
Steven knew what she was about to say. He glanced into the hospital room to make sure Stephanie couldn’t hear before replying, “A minute ago, our boss paid to have it scrubbed.”
Cecilia quickly checked her phone. Sure enough, just minutes later, everything was gone from Twitter!
Even Quennel’s Twitter account was now a blank slate, as if it had been blocked by the platform.
Serves him right for running his mouth online.
Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. “Steven, please tell Mr. Vasquez for me that I stand with you two, till the end if I must.… I’ll support him all the way!”
