Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 253

That afternoon.

Stephanie was at home reviewing some professional documents when she got a call from Cecilia.

“Stephanie, quick, open the link I just sent you and watch the livestream!”

Stephanie knew Jonathan was attending the same business summit as Quennel today.

It was all anyone was talking about online.

She clicked the link and asked, “Huh? I thought you had an interview with Jonathan after this. How do you have time to call me now?”

Cecilia would have to prepare meticulously for an interview, especially a live one. She should have been a bundle of nerves right now.

But the mere mention of it set Cecilia off. “You know I just started this new job, right? My boss saw how popular Jonathan is and used the fact that I’m new to steal my hosting gig! She’s doing it herself. Can you believe the nerve!”

Stephanie frowned.

Jonathan never appeared in public.

He had only agreed to the interview as a favor to her, because Cecilia was her friend.

And now someone else was stealing the credit?

It was common for bosses to take credit for their subordinates' work, but when it happened to her best friend, Stephanie couldn't help but feel indignant.

She picked up her phone to text Jonathan. “I’ll tell Jonathan to just cancel it.”

“Forget it.”

Cecilia said dismissively, “He already agreed. Backing out now would be bad for his reputation, and the station has already been promoting the interview.”

“I heard they arranged one for Quennel too. The two of them might even be on stage together…”

Though she was a reporter, Cecilia was also a gossip lover. She definitely wanted to witness such a dramatic event firsthand.

Stephanie frowned.

Quennel had an interview too?

It seemed the station's director had orchestrated this for the ratings.

Stephanie had no desire to become fodder for public gossip, nor did she want her personal life laid bare for all to see.

Jonathan, who was in the restroom having a smoke, took the cigarette from his lips and stubbed it out when he saw her message. “Miss me? Just wait. Three minutes!”

Stephanie’s fingertips trembled as she read his text.

Did she miss him?

She wasn't sure, but she definitely wanted to see him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have come all this way.

Cecilia glanced at Stephanie’s phone screen and looked even more excited than Stephanie herself.

She cupped her cheeks, an expression of pure shipper's delight on her face. “Wow, Stephanie, is this what Jonathan is really like behind the scenes?”

“What are you waiting for? Reply! Just say, ‘I missed you so much, honey, that I came all the way here to find you! I need kisses and hugs and to be swept off my feet!’”

Stephanie was speechless.

She ignored her friend’s over-the-top excitement and looked toward the stage.

When Jonathan said three minutes, he meant three minutes.
