Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 261

Jonathan chuckled softly, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. “Who else would I give a diamond ring to, if not my wife?”

Stephanie stared at him, stunned into silence for a long moment.

But Jonathan had already slipped the ring onto her ring finger.

She immediately felt the weight of it, so heavy she could barely lift her hand.

“Isn’t this… a little too flashy?” Stephanie bit her lip.

Working with jewelry, she knew this pink diamond was priceless. You might find one with this clarity, but not this size. You might find one this size, but not this pure.

In terms of color, quality, and carat, this diamond was the pinnacle of perfection, a rarity in the world. And with Hubery’s design, the stone's inherent beauty was showcased to its fullest.

Walking around with this would be blinding.

Thinking back to when Hubery had asked if she had time to sketch a design for a diamond ring, it all clicked for Stephanie.

So, Jonathan was the client?

How cliché… She had almost designed her own wedding ring.

Thankfully, she hadn't taken the job from Hubery, or there would have been no surprise at all.

Of course, any girl would be happy to receive a ring, and Stephanie was no exception.

“This diamond…”

She stared at the beautiful stone, her eyes fixed on it. “Did you bring this back from your business trip?”

The region was famous for its diamonds, but finding one of this quality had to have been incredibly difficult.

Considering Jonathan paid Hubery a design fee in the tens of millions, it was clear just how much he’d spent on the ring.

Jonathan said nonchalantly, “Just something I picked up. Wear it for fun.”

A rock this blinding, just something he picked up?

“Quennel said, ‘You look terrible, not exactly glowing with love. Stephanie, are you miserable living with a man you don’t love?’ My actual reply was…”

Before she could finish, Jonathan gently placed a finger on her lips.

His eyes were bright, seeming to hold a galaxy of light. “You don’t need to explain. Quennel was just making a desperate move. I never believed him for a second. There’s no need for us to waste energy on someone so unimportant.”

Besides, the truth didn't matter anymore. Stephanie was right here in front of him, so of course he should cherish the present.

Soon they arrived home. Stephanie was about to head to the kitchen to cook, but as soon as she walked in, she saw dinner was already prepared and set on the table.

“What’s this…?”

“I had someone prepare it in advance.”

After the terrifying ordeal she’d been through yesterday, she needed to rest. The housekeepers came daily anyway, so preparing a meal was no trouble.

After dinner, Jonathan remarked, “Still, the food you make yourself tastes better.”
