Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 266

Before she finished, Jonathan let out a sudden, cold laugh. “Since when does just anyone have the right to meddle in my affairs?”

He stood up, a smirk on his lips. “If you’re so determined to make us miserable, then none of us will eat.”

With those words, he grabbed the tablecloth and, in one swift motion, yanked all the freshly prepared dishes off the table.

With a deafening crash, soup and food splattered everywhere. The magnificent feast was instantly reduced to a mess of leftover food and shattered plates.

No one had expected Jonathan to flip the table.

The three women at the table instinctively jumped to their feet to dodge the flying mess.

Patricia, fearing her son would get burned, quickly pulled Mark aside. Her own hand was scalded red, and she cried out in pain.

Elva’s face was grim. She had worn a new outfit today, but it was ruined in an instant, covered in grease stains.

Cora had been the first to sense trouble. Jonathan had pulled the tablecloth toward the opposite side, so she and York, sitting on the other side, were largely unharmed.

Patricia complained, “Jonathan, what are you doing? Even if you’re upset, you can’t just flip the table! There’s a whole family here. How are we supposed to eat now?”

Elva chimed in, “Yes, Jonathan. We don’t mind, but York has a sensitive stomach. What if he goes hungry?”

Cora simply watched the show, saying nothing.

York’s face was dark and cold.

Jonathan let out a low laugh. “Skipping one meal won’t kill anyone. You’re all well-fed with nothing better to do than stir up trouble.”

“Stephanie is my wife. If any of you dare to speak ill of her behind her back or give her a hard time when I’m not around, you can try it again and see if you can bear the consequences.”

Jonathan was making it clear to everyone in the Vasquez family that Stephanie was his line in the sand.

“I’m not hurt. Why are you carrying me?” she whispered.

Jonathan’s lips curved into a smile. “You’re my wife. I can carry you if I want to. I don’t want you to get tired from walking. Is that a problem?”

Stephanie was speechless.

And just like that, they left the dining room in a grand fashion, the servants bowing their heads and clearing a path for them.

As they departed, Patricia tried to stir up trouble with York again. “Look at that… Jonathan has absolutely no respect for you…”

Elva nodded in agreement. “Jonathan is indeed too arrogant… I apologize. I failed to raise him well.”

Before she could finish, York cut her off sharply. “Jonathan’s not wrong. If a man can’t even protect his own wife, he’s a useless loser.”
