Hannah announced, “Everyone, I’d like to introduce our new colleague.”
She then turned to Vivian. “You can choose someone to mentor you.”
Vivian walked straight toward Stephanie, her chin held high in an arrogant tilt. “I choose her!”
Stephanie frowned.
Hannah glanced at Stephanie. “Alright. Go register with HR, then you can get a computer.”
With that, Hannah nodded at Stephanie. “Come to my office for a moment.”
Stephanie followed her, and as soon as the door closed, Hannah explained, “Vivian is an intern from headquarters. She has connections. She’ll be working under you as your assistant for the next six months.”
Stephanie knew immediately that Vivian was there to target her.
They were the same age, and Vivian had graduated three years ago. The socialite had spent her time doing nothing but shopping and traveling. Why the sudden urge to work?
Stephanie had only been at OALA Group for a month and was in the process of building her own team. She couldn’t easily refuse an assignment from her superior, especially since Hannah had explicitly stated that Vivian had connections. Rejecting her would put Hannah in a difficult position.
Hannah handed a stack of resumes from her desk to Stephanie. “Take a look at these as well. Pick anyone who seems like a good fit to join your team.”
Stephanie accepted the resumes and flipped through them, quickly realizing that every single candidate was male.
She immediately understood Hannah’s intention.
Hannah must have heard about the incident at the hotel after the business dinner and was trying to provide her with some backup.
She was touched by the company’s consideration. This would certainly offer her a degree of security.
Stephanie carefully reviewed each resume and selected three candidates she wanted to meet.
She handed the chosen resumes to Vivian. “Take these to HR and schedule interviews for this afternoon.”
Vivian stared at her, dumbfounded. She had just returned from the administrative department with a new laptop and hadn’t even had a chance to sit down yet.
When Stephanie went to the restroom a little later, she caught a glimpse of the socialite decorating her desk, turning her workspace into something that resembled a kitschy boutique.
As long as she didn’t cause any trouble, Stephanie decided to let her be.
But that peace didn’t last long. After interviewing the three male candidates that afternoon, Stephanie returned to her office to find Vivian sitting in her chair.
Seeing Stephanie enter, Vivian made no move to get up.
She smirked. “You really are a vixen, aren’t you? Hiring only men as your assistants.”
Vivian had seen the three resumes when she took them to HR. Each man was more handsome than the last, handsome enough to be models, if not movie stars.
Stephanie glanced at Vivian coolly. “What’s wrong? Are you jealous?”
“Hah… Jealous of you? I bet you don’t know, do you? Quennel is my boyfriend now. I’m warning you, stay away from him! By the way, did you get the package this morning? I hope you liked it.”
