Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 276

Stephanie’s brow furrowed. “So it was you.”

“Of course, it was me. But what can you do about it?” Vivian replied with ultimate arrogance, smiling as she walked out.

Stephanie’s lips curled into a smirk as she tapped her phone a few times.

Half an hour later, the receptionist delivered a package to Vivian.

Seeing that it was addressed from Quennel, she was both surprised and delighted, eagerly tearing it open.

But when she saw the contents—a burial shroud and a pile of white powder—Vivian shrieked and stumbled backward in terror.

“What is this? Are these… ashes?”

Her voice cracked with panic. She fell to the floor, her high-heeled shoe twisting her ankle, leaving her in a disheveled heap.

Stephanie’s office was in a quiet corner of the floor, with no one else around.

As her assistant, Vivian’s desk was in the cubicle just outside her door, and Stephanie could see everything clearly through the blinds.

Vivian’s face was as white as a sheet, her hands trembling uncontrollably. The contents of the box had clearly terrified her.

Tears streamed down her face, smudging her makeup and leaving a dark track on her pale cheek.

In an instant, she knew what had happened.

Vivian stormed into Stephanie’s office, ready for a confrontation. “Stephanie! It was you!”

Stephanie played dumb. “What are you talking about?”

“Don’t pretend! Those ashes out there—you sent them, didn’t you?”

“You’re despicable, Stephanie! You won’t even admit what you did! Whose grave did you rob? How could you be so vile!”

Stephanie looked up, her gaze cool and her voice laced with a lazy drawl. “I’m just returning the favor. You should be careful. There were ashes on the box. You never know who might come looking for you tonight.”

Vivian let out another terrified scream, on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Was that all it took?

The white powder was just ash from burnt incense, but it was enough to send a sheltered socialite like Vivian into a complete panic.

Seeing Stephanie so self-assured, Vivian began to have doubts.

She had a nagging feeling that if she actually went through with it, Stephanie would have a countermove ready.

“Just you wait!”

There was plenty of time. After all, she was now her assistant.

She would have plenty of opportunities to make Stephanie’s life a living hell.

Vivian turned to go back to her desk, but the sight of the white ash in the box made her scream again.

In her haste, she stumbled, knocking the box over. The burial shroud and the ash spilled all over her desk.

“Aaaah!”

Vivian scrambled away, all semblance of composure gone.

She was going to lose her mind.
