Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 289

During the lunch break, Vivian left the office carrying several bags.

Stephanie assumed she had taken her suggestion and gone to the hospital to visit Quennel.

But when she returned from lunch, she found a resignation email in her inbox.

Stephanie glanced out at the open-plan office and noticed that Vivian’s desk was already empty. She thought to herself that Vivian wasn't entirely hopeless and must have taken her advice to leave.

With her departure, Stephanie felt that one potential problem had been resolved.

A short while later, Hannah asked her to come to her office.

“We have the security footage from last night.”

Hannah turned her laptop around for Stephanie to see.

Stephanie was stunned. The footage clearly showed the entire incident. It was Vivian who had pushed the planter from the floor above.

A falling object injuring someone from a high-rise was no small matter. Quennel had been in a hurry to get to the hospital yesterday and hadn’t pressed charges.

But once he recovered, he would surely contact OALA Group for an explanation.

Stephanie hadn't imagined Vivian would be behind this. Was Vivian trying to hit her with the planter?

No wonder Vivian had run off as soon as she offered to help. It must have been a guilty conscience. Stephanie realized she had been too charitable in her assessment of Vivian.

Vivian must not have realized that OALA Group's security cameras were infrared and could clearly capture her face even in the dark.

Hannah gestured for Stephanie to sit. “I heard from HR that Vivian has already resigned?”

Stephanie nodded. “She and I have some personal history. Her sudden decision to work at OALA Group was likely to… cause trouble for me.”

“That explains it…” The story of Stephanie and Quennel was all over the internet, and Hannah had heard bits and pieces.

She tapped her fingers on the desk. “So, what do you think we should do about this?”

But the moment she entered his room, she was met by the police.

They had been lying in wait for her.

“And I actually thought you were being kind this morning! Stephanie, I never knew you were so manipulative! How dare you call the police on me!”

Choosing to report her after she had already left OALA Group was clearly a move to avoid a scene at the company and protect its image.

Vivian felt like she had walked right into Stephanie’s trap.

Once this story got out, she would be ruined.

A socialite from a family like hers getting arrested? What would people in her circle say? She would be judged for the rest of her life.

And the police had come to the hospital! Quennel had witnessed the whole thing!

The way he looked at her was so cold. She had finally become Quennel's girlfriend, only to be the cause of his injury. Their relationship was over!
