Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 293

At the same time.

After his meeting, Jonathan walked out of the conference room.

Just as he reached his office door, Steven said, “Sir, a Ms. Campbell is here.”

Hearing this, Jonathan asked, puzzled, “Which Ms. Campbell?”

“Evelyn Campbell.”

Jonathan frowned. “Why is she here at this hour?”

“She said she has a small matter, something about borrowing our office building. She’s been waiting inside for a while now.”

“I see.” With a cool indifference, Jonathan strode inside.

Evelyn was sitting on the office sofa. It was late, and she must have been waiting for a while, as she had fallen asleep against the cushions.

The woman was wearing a form-fitting dress, its sleek lines clearly outlining the perfect curves of her body. Lying there in the quiet of the night, it was a scene filled with a forbidden allure.

But Jonathan only glanced at her before looking away, clearly uninterested.

He cleared his throat, deliberately making a noticeable sound.

The woman on the sofa slowly opened her eyes. “Jonathan… I’m sorry. I’ve been working around the clock for days. I was so tired, and your sofa is just too comfortable, so I accidentally dozed off.”

Her face was still hazy with sleep. The office was warm, and the woman, just woken up, had a natural pink flush to her cheeks, making her look exceptionally well.

Jonathan sat down in his office chair and glanced at his phone on the desk.

He’d left it in the office when he went to the meeting.

There were no new notifications on the screen. He turned it over and placed it face down.

Meanwhile, when Stephanie's taxi arrived at Ironhold Investment Group, it was nearly midnight.

She had never come to the company to see Jonathan at this hour before.

The building was mostly empty. Many employees had gone home, but the lights were still on in several departments.

The executive floor required a key card for access, but luckily, Stephanie had one in her purse. It was one that had accidentally fallen out of Jonathan’s pocket when he was changing clothes a couple of days ago.

She went straight to the top floor.

Worried that she might have rushed over and caused a huge misunderstanding, Stephanie made a point to buy some late-night snacks nearby.

The elevator chimed. Steven was slightly taken aback when he saw Stephanie step out.

He instinctively glanced back toward Jonathan’s office. “Ma’am, what brings you here?”
