Cedric looked at Tilly in disbelief. "Did Ruth really have an affair with that mechanic?"

This was news to him.

Tilly nodded. "That's right. We haven't found any evidence and don't want to alert them. The only way to continue with the investigation is through the AI project. If we can get Xenia to embezzle funds, we can trace them back to her father. That will give us the leverage we need."

Cedric stared out at the road. This was the most reliable approach now. If they tracked down Xenia's father, they could uncover what happened all those years ago.

His expression grew grim. "Keep an eye on PZ Group and Liddell Corporation. I'll have an expert monitor their accounts. Inform me if something happens."

Tilly nodded again. "Yes, Mr. Greene."

Cedric glanced toward the hospital room sadly before forcing himself to look away. "Take good care of her."

He would do whatever it took to uncover the mastermind and then personally tell Noelle the truth.

Noelle was soon discharged. Before leaving the hospital, she glanced back at the top floor, silently hoping Anastasia would recover soon.

When she returned to school, she noticed the leaves were falling. Summer was coming to an end. When she arrived at her dorm, only Mia was there.

Mia was surprised. "Why didn't you tell me you were getting discharged? How's your leg? I got someone to bring me a scar removal ointment. It's really effective and isn't even available on the market yet."

Noelle glanced at the ointment, then pulled an identical one from her pocket.

Mia's eyes widened. "Did Cedric give this to you? Wow, he gave you so much! This stuff is super hard to get."

"I hope it works. I don't want scars." Noelle lifted her pants, revealing burn scars near her upper thigh.

Mia was shocked. "When did you get these? Was it from that car accident?"

"Yes. I almost died, but someone pulled me out. They always said it was Xenia's father who saved me. And he died when he went back for my parents.

"But I've always felt like there was another person at the scene. They were the ones who rescued me." No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember what happened that day.
